My boss. My enemy.

I escaped my life. Leaving everything behind wasn’t easy, but I did it. I turned the page and flew over the ocean.

This is my new beginning. My new chapter. My new book.

Or so I hoped before I met my new boss. Daniel Sterling. Rich as sin, illegally attractive, and the face of every magazine cover. Oh, and the reason why I escaped in the first place.

I made his high school life hell. He won’t stop until he gives me a taste of my own medicine.

Empire of Hate is a complete stand-alone. No other books should be listened to prior to this.

THIS IS A LONG & BITTER HATE-FEST

This is a twenty-one year angst-fest.. a battle of hurt and heartache between a misunderstood ex queen b’tch and a cold vindictive alpha ba$tard who have, over the years, repeatedly shown their utter dislike of each other in various vindictive ways. Verbally, caustically and callously they’ve turned their backs on one another and given each other the cold shoulder to protect their bleeding hearts and bruised souls. You hear that it’s been a bitter obsession that Daniel and Nicole have had since they’ve been arch enemies in past revealing chapters and in the present malicious friction-filled toxic boss/assistant days. Since a childhood misunderstanding clouded any potential they may have had, they've both made moves to harm and devastated the other. But, underneath the arguments, animosity, assumptions and accusations, lies damaged soulmates with hearts forever drawn to each other. It’s hate, it’s jealousy, it’s pride, it’s verbal cuts meant to take down their nemesis and it’s an emotional storm that leaves damage and devastation in its wake. And It’ll take right up until the very last chapter before they’ll allow their carefully constructed walls to come tumbling down.. until all their painful pitiful truths are spoken.. and until their hearts can finally forgive.

Worth a credit? Yes, it’s a decent (but frustrating) dual POV enemies-to-lovers second chance but boy these two are stubborn stubborn characters whose bitter masks stay impenetrable for a long ass time. Did it get hot?.. yes. Was it my favorite in the series?.. unfortunately no as I really wanted to love it more. There was, of course, expert narration by Shane who always delivers a guaranteed five star performance.. but sadly Christy’s narration (imo) didn’t have a very strong distinguishable male voice.

All the hearts and all the stars ⭐️❤️🙌

Oh how I loved Daniel and Nicole’s story. It wasn’t anything I expected either. After Empire of Sin, I really expected to laugh out loud from Daniel’s cheeky personality, but the angst and misunderstanding between the two of them was heartbreaking. I really enjoyed the development of these two characters and how past stories intertwined to make them who they are today. I also have to put in my review that I was thrilled that Kyle made an appearance. He is one of my favorite Rina Kent characters!

Thank the Gods that Shane East finally returned to narrate, I’ve missed him terribly in Rina’s last few books. Christy Woods was new to me and she was also wonderful.

Another great addition to Rina Kent’s collection. She truly is a romance genius!

Best of the series. Have your tissues ready

I love RK and have liked the Empire series but I loved the mix back to the Elite group. This is a heartwarming story of second/third chances for love that started young. There is heartbreak, love, loss, sacrifice, and I cried for the first time in any of RK’s books. TW: SA trauma and coping. It’s not the main point but it shapes some of the characters and pulls on the heartstrings of guilt, blame, and shame which was a big part of the tears. Narrators we’re fantastic!!!!!! I can’t wait for Kings and Aspen’s story, it should be volatile. :)

Entertaining as always!

Great listen! I will say that Daniel and Nicole had some major hang ups and past traumas, and many of their actions and interactions (past and current) are immature, exaggerated and off-putting. However, the storyline was intriguing and their desire for one another real. Once they got past some of their issues, they had a love that was raw, beautiful and lasting. It was a little rushed at the end imo but not enough to ruin it for me. The two epilogues made me happy. Excellent narration will add to your enjoyment of an already solid read. Recommend? Why yes, I definitely do!

Dark and perfect 🖤

I loved this! This was enemies to lovers done right. I was soooo mad at Daniel for so much of this book, which I was supposed to be, but I ended up loving him so much! I absolutely loved getting to see the entire story through Nicole's eyes. I had no idea all of this was brewing in the background! And Chris 👿 I was shocked, appalled, and enraged! I liked how it was handled though. I loved this book!

Incredible!

I have never reviewed a book before but I had to with this one! I read the two books prior to this one and although it’s not necessary I was glad I did. Only because I had something to compare this one to. This book is absolutely 5 stars or more. The story the slow burn the push and pull. You can actually feel what the characters are going through. Just amazing. I will likely reread this one and I’ve only ever reread one other book in my life.

Perfect

I don’t usually leave reviews. It’s has to be that good for me to do so. Excellent narrating… my fist time listening to Christy Woods…Shane East is just the master! I could listen to him all day and night and then some more. I’m not usually a big fan of past and present stories but this one was just on another level. The timing of everything just made sense. Great character development, I felt like I was in touch with the characters, meaningful and believable enemies to lovers, to HEA, and I didn’t want it to end. This was my first Rina Kent book and it definitely won’t be my last!

Beautiful Story!!!

Another great story by Rina Kent! This is definitely one you have to listen to since the characters are originally from London. The British accents are so yummy, especially Daniel! Shane East and Christy Woods both did such an incredible job bringing the characters and story to life. I highly recommend spending a credit on this book!

A Second Chance Enemies To Lovers Romance

Empire of Hate by Rina Kent is a second chance enemies-to-lovers romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Shane East and Christy Woods. This is the third book of the Empire series and can be read as a stand-alone.

I love Rina's books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and making me fall in love with the characters. I loved the relationship between Daniel and Nicole. It was messy but you couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Shane and Christy did an amazing job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like second chance romances, enemies-to-lovers romances, or office romances.

4.5 Stars

This is the third book in the Empire series, and the story of Daniel, and Nicole. This book has been a ling wait, since being introduced to Daniel in Cruel King, and It was well worth the wait. This book was emotional, the characters have fiery chemistry, and I was glued to the pages the whole book. Love this author, and highly recommend this book.

Great Listen!

This was only my second Rina Kent read and I really enjoyed this audiobook! The performances of the narrators were perfect for the characters and basically Nicole is a queen and everyone else is terrible. Very much enjoying this series of interconnected standalones so can’t wait to start the next one!

Yikes

This one is really rough, not even gonna lie. Both of these characters have so many problems that I honestly don't even know where to begin. This is the first thing I've read by Rina Kent and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth.

The story itself isn't badly written, and yes, I know it's just a book, but both of these characters needed copious amounts of therapy. Daniel was an absolute douche and Nicole still thought the sun shone out his butt and vice versa. They're both destructive, crude, uncaring about anyone but themselves, and have a list of casualties they leave in the wake of their terrible decision making skills. Even at the end I didn't think either one of them deserved each other, and if it wasn't for the fact I listened to the audio book instead of reading it physically, I'd probably have DNFed it.

The only saving grace of this book was the narrators. They both did a phenomenal job and I'd listen to either one of them again, but for sure not via this book.

Enemies to lovers X Workplace Romance

4.5 star!
Another amazing book by Rina Kent. When Nicole takes an assistant job at a law firm the last person she expects to be working for is the man she has loved since she was 8 years old. Daniel and Nicole haven't seen each other in 11 years. Daniel believes she crushed his heart back then and he wants her to pay so he makes her job a nightmare for her.
This was truly an enemies to lovers/enemies with benefits for most of the book. Daniel was so cruel but I very much enjoyed their banter and the tension between them the whole book!

The narrators were great and their voices really matched the characters!

LOVED IT!

THIS BOOK IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHY I LOVE DARK ROMANCES! GAH! I loved this! I've been a fan of Rina Kent's books for a while now and this was yet another amazing read/listen by her. It was a slow-burn, dark, thrilling and all-consuming romance full of suspense and darkness. Daniel and Nicole are currently my favourite couple written by the author. I didn't think I would like Nicole, because I haven't been a fan of her in other books but I think the author redeemed her well!

5 Stars!

Interesting, though quite twisted

Once again, it was a dark read with heavy topics–abuse in multiple forms from various people, including rape, most notably. And the romance was interesting, though quite twisted.

Let’s sum it up that way: boy and girl love each other from afar but both are convinced it’s unrequited, spend time bullying or ignoring each other instead, until they fall into bed years later; but a misunderstanding leads them to go their separate way. They reunite a decade later, as they hate and resent each other. Hence it’s both second chance and enemies to lovers.

I admit that aspect bothered me a little. I’m all for the enemies to lovers trope, but here it was borderline non consensual. Yes, Nicole had been in love with Daniel all her life, and yes, she was still attracted to him, but she was reluctant and Daniel didn’t really respect her boundaries. With a lot of anger and/or disdain thrown in. I kind of pitied Nicole.

But she also was an unusual character, difficult to like at times. She was obsessive! She admited it herself. Sure, she had a tough upbringing, and she found solace in her feelings for the cute boy, but almost two decades of obsessing over someone isn’t exactly healthy. Not that Daniel was any better–the hate of the title referenced his abhorrence for blonde girls due to his history with Nicole.

I told you, twisted.

That darkened their present relationship. Daniel was an abusive boss, and Nicole resisted him all the way. They slowly realized that their past prejudices were just that: prejudices. Nothing was as it seemed, and they didn’t know the whole story. They struggled to get it out though. In the meantime, Daniel got close to Nicole and Jayden, and that part was cute.

And sexy. Don’t forget the sexy. This book was quite steamy. Though, again, with a bit of dubcon element.

I enjoyed the narration. The female narrator was new to me, but she did a great job. The male narrator is a favorite of mine, and he didn’t disappoint this time either. On top of the accent–both main characters are British–they managed to express the conflicted emotions of the characters. Another good audio for the author.

This road to a happy ever after was very rocky. So many misunderstandings that put them on the wrong path. Lucky they found their path. So many of the misunderstandings explained throughout the story. Loving this series.

Hated 90% of this book don’t know why it got such good reviews

The plot was just way too depressing, definitely not enough romance or flirting mixed in the the tragic misunderstanding between the main characters. The narrator’s were incredible but the plot had literally nothing redeeming about it. Just my opinion but I don’t often write negative reviews. Some of the plot might of been redeemed even if it was closer to 50% depressing.
