Publisher's Summary

Following a miraculous resurrection, Fred - the half-human/half-dungeon-core hybrid - managed to reunite with Deecy, his helpful dire wolf guide and companion. Not only that, but he was able to perform an equally miraculous resurrection of Eisa, the human woman that had professed her love for him just moments before the tragic event of their deaths.

But would she be the same as she was before, or would she be forever changed by the unique process that had brought her back?

Accompanied by a friend from Fred’s past, the group journeys to the west in search of the Core Power Guild and the townspeople of Gatecross. Along the way, Eisa discovers the strange new abilities that she now possesses - abilities that are very similar to Deecy’s, the shape-shifting dire wolf that travels with them. Eventually, they arrive in the Deadlands, a constantly decaying landscape filled with undead monsters of all types; information on the Guild’s whereabouts are easily found, but Fred and his friends aren’t forgotten by the nature and earth cores that he had inadvertently destroyed.

Is anywhere in the world safe enough to create a dungeon that will keep his friends - and those he loves - protected from the threat that the Factions pose to them?

Only the broken shards of the dungeon cores he left behind know the answer to that.

Contains litRPG/gamelit elements such as statistics and leveling. No harems and no profanity.

Moves the story

This book was not the best in the series, but it is a good filler book moving the story from book 2 to 4. Great narration.

On to book 4

Miles does a good job with the narration, Jonathan is killing it with the writing. I'm still enjoying this series.
What more can I say besides on to book 4.

Still interesting

The pace of these books are a bit slower than I'm used to, but that doesn't keep me from wanting to listen to more. If stat pages are something that bother you they can be skipped in the audiobook. Interested how series will continue after this.

Good progression in the story arc

Went through this book in a weekend. The story keeps progressing and never stalls out for long. Also putting the stat page reading into their own chapters is a nice touch. Only negative I see with this book is power level has stalled out which almost make the main characters like secondary ones. I will look forward hearing the next book!

Strong follow up

Still a fun, exciting and action-packed story. Great cast of characters. A modicum of suspense and good narration. Interested to see where it goes from here.

shards

this is my favorite book of the series so far. cant wait to hear the next one and see what happens. I like hearing about the towns and new people. hopefully some join his guild , that is if he can re-establish it. narrator does a good job as well. I like the voices he does for each character.

Plot points becoming somewhat predictable

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.

I was super excited to see the return of the first human friend Fred ever made with this book. However given the last two books i was somewhat able to predict how that would turn out. I was happy to hear that Jonathon Brooks was giving thought to the future of this world he was building, because the same outcomes he wrote had already occurred to me. I'm still looking forward to the next book, but I'm not sure if i'd give a potential 5th book a shot if book 4 becomes too predictable. Hopefully he changes up the formula a little.

This one really left me wanting more. I love the lack of smut in this author's work.

did not see that coming

a great addition to the series, gobbled it up in 2 days and am wanting more...
we get more of the bestest characters and further development of characters, the world and the plot...
all around everything you could wish for in a sequel :)

I'm still not impressed by Miles's female voices, but they don't get in the way of the story, just doesn't enhance it in my opinion, otherwise he does a good job

Troubles ramp up rapidly

The latest instalment of this series feels even more hectic than the previous one, the situations that the main character and his friends find themselves in continue to escalate even more and some of his friends undergo some very significant changes during this book, while the main character finds new goals beyond his original desire for revenge against those dungeon cores responsible for the deaths of his parents.

The narrator's performance in this one does not change significantly from the previous books, doing a good job of enhancing the story.

Overall, this series seems to be going from strength to strength with each book building significantly on the foundations of the first one.

A great story keeps unfolding.

Very well written, just like the previous two books. The narration is very enjoyable to listen too, a nice soft male voice. This male voice is a bit less suited for the female characters though. I found the previous two books to be a bit more thrilling and action-packed. But it's still a great book nonetheless.

Loved this.

The only issue Ive had, was with the narrators. His female voices are pretty weak and indistinguishable. His male voices are great, but I think the series would benefit immensely by adding a female narrator to partner with the current narrator.
