Publisher's summary

Devour. Level up. Repeat.

Upon awakening in an abandoned lab, Evelyn is empowered by a system that grants her bloody magical powers in exchange for finishing missions and consuming her enemies. She knows one truth: no matter the cost, she will advance. She'll manipulate allies and spread demonic corruption with a smile if that's what it takes to level up.

Her first mission is to escape the lab's other newly born creations. But once she steps foot into the world outside of the lab, she must contend with people who forbid her existence and who will work to eradicate those with her powers from the face of the planet.

The outside world may be vast and deadly, but Evelyn will be deadlier.

Don't miss the start of this action-packed series from Aaron Shih, a fast-paced litRPG progression fantasy novel featuring weak-to-strong progression, demons, an intricate magic system, and a whole lot of blood.

The story of a Villain.

A genuine, true to feeling story of someone who is not a hero. Not an anti-hero. But a villain through and through. Our protagonist is not human, not entirely, yet desires to be so and desires power above all. It’s refreshing, to see a truly evil, character that can still be so driving and relatable.

Not by any means a “New York bestseller” this story appeals to a specific audience, those looking for a bloody tale of survival in a world with an outright violent clash of fantasy and science. Yet considering the violence of the narrative it’s more than fitting to sit back and enjoy the show.

Not Bad

Overall, quite entertaining. Evelyn is the amoral monster we can all secretly cheer for. There was some anime level dialogue here and there, like the "fighting ferociously with someone for a long time and then stopping to chat with them before the final blow" style of thing. Also, Evelyn basically has deus ex machina skill that is more than cheating. Still, it's a fun power romp of carnage and leveling. It isn't anything monumentally special but a good listen and worth a credit if you are into these types of stories.

Monster, Mayhem, and Victims.

It's a pretty good book. Initially, it focuses on a monster girl trying to blend in and survive while on the run. As the story progresses, larger forces start to influence her, pushing her to come to terms with her true monstrous nature (the whole idea of adversity fostering growth and all). By the end, she becomes a bloodthirsty entity who enjoys killing – not completely without reason (though perhaps slightly), but as part of a calculated plan to gain levels and collect skills she covets. I'm definitely excited for the sequel.

It was ok..

It’s just an ok story…nothing that special. I’m hoping the next book is better.

this was an amazing read. the 3rd book will be available for audio in July.

so unlike other litrp she wasn't transported to another world but this was an amazing take on litrpg. this was a take on the MC being opposite of a "good guy" that most litrpg are. I highly recommend it. my research says July 2024 for the 3rd book and that was a note from the author. also the 3rd book completed the series which is not common but im glad as some are frustrating long and you'd like to hear a good ending. narrator was good. shining I'll definitely be looking for your other books.

Stop humanizing monsters

If you're going to make a book about a monster keep them a monster. Other than the vast similarities to Salvos this book has it follows the sating with making non human MC human in everything but race it's ANNOYING

over explaining story...

it started just fine, but after a few chapters it became so droll and underwhelming. Boring and annoying is probably the most accurate description of the final half of this story.
the MC just randomly starts over explaining every single thought, feeling, movement, occurrence, and even the f****** weather... it seems like the author just decided that the story wasn't long enough and came to the conclusion to just use filler wording to extend the story...
