Publisher's Summary

Introducing Cowboys and Debutantes! Enjoy these clean and wholesome, sweet historical Western romances. These riches-to-rags shorts prove that love can be found in the most unexpected places and that money does not always make the man. But as our debutantes know, it sure helps!

Della Stout can hardly believe it when her father tells her he's lost it all - the money, the house, the servants, their entire fortune. But things only get worse when they inform her she's to be sent west, as a mail order bride. When she meets her husband to be, she's less than impressed - by him and the dusty little town he lives in.

Clement White has spent his whole life working toward this moment. After opening a bank in Montana Territory, he feels as though his dreams have come true. All but one - he realizes there's no one to share in the fruits of his labor. A mail order bride seems like just the thing to complete his life - that is, until she arrives. Suddenly he's saddled with a woman who doesn't know a stove top from a wash tub, and, to make matters worse, she wants nothing to do with him.

What happens next? Find out in this fun, romantic caper set in the Old West.

Sweet mail order bride!

Cowboy and Debutantes, are they compatible? Well, Della Stout, a debutante from New York is about to find out. When her family is facing hardship, her father sends the girls out to be married. Della is off to Montana to meet her groom. When she arrives in the small town of Livingston, she knows her life is about to change. Clem has sent for a wife who can take care of the home and be the mother of his children. He had no idea Della was not taught these skills. With patience and kindness, can he wait for Della to find her way? This story by Vivi Holt had be from the very beginning. Della is a wonderful character, I loved the spoiled, little rich girl finding her way in a new life. With new friends, a wonderful new husband and a new lease on life, this romance will surely warm your heart.

Meghan Kelly can narrate all genres, but I especially love when she reads historical, western romances. Her voices are perfect for the sound of the times and the many different characters are always distinguishable. She makes listening a pleasure.

short historical romance

I really enjoyed this short romance. I do wish it was longer. Being as it is part of a series I will hopefully get to know more of the Della and Clem story. Meghan Kelly has done a good job narrating the story. She made miss Prim and Proper Della sound a little to prim and proper but was still good. This is a sweet and clean romance so good for any one YA and up.

Della Stout is a spoiled little rich girl, she is used to having the finest things, going to parties and being waited on hand and foot.. When daddy looses all of his money she is sent to the Montana Territory as a Mail Order bride. She is to marry Clement White. She gets there and finds a whole new world to what she is used to. Not only must she learn to love her new husband but she also has to learn how to fit into the town, and to cook and clean.

Get ready for an adventure...

I'm not much for stories in the wild, wild west, but Vivi Holt paints a picture of a world of colorful people with the courage to follow their hearts searching for a better way of life. Della is a descriptive tale of one woman's quest to find her place in the world. Della finds herself with little choice when it comes to her life and she's determined to change all that. An arranged marriage opens her eyes to what life could be if she listens to her heart. Get ready for an adventure full of spirit that pulls at the heart strings and inspires the soul. Holt and Kelly make a good team.

I LOVE A SASSY HEROINE!

After her father loses the farm, so to speak, pampered Della is sent west and thrown into a world that is foreign to her. Instead of cowering, she pulls herself up by her bootstraps and tackles the daily obstacles with humor and sass. Meanwhile, Clement, her new husband, spends a good amount of time scratching his head, trying to figure out his new bride. He is somewhat bewildered and proud of her. I loved this short dip into the mail-order bride world.

Meghan Kelly brought all the sass to Della's character! I loved all of her voice characters. She was very entertaining to listen to and I would gladly purchase books in the future that she has narrated.

Sweet Story, Great Narration!

Vivi Holt wrote this sweet short story that kept my interest. Della is a spoiled debutante forced by circumstance to move west as a mail order bride. She was fortunate to have Clem, a cowboy/banker send for her as his wife. The story is sweet and light, and fits the time period. The ending was very satisfying too. Meghan Kelly did an outstanding performance with the various characters in this story. She gives distinguishable voices for each of them, and puts the right emotions into her narration. I really enjoyed this listen.

Super sweet & heartwarming

This was one of the sweetest mail order bride stories I've ever read. I loved the joy of Della learning to cook, sharing with others, and the touch of faith. A very heartwarming short story. The narrator, Meghan, did a wonderful job portraying characters and emotions, making it a truly enjoyable listen.

Sweet Mail Order Bride Story

Della became a mail order bride after her family suffered from financial ruin in New York. Moving out west and leaving her life of luxury was a big change for her. Her new husband also had to make adjustments after learning that Della didn't know how to do many common household chores. Della learns and grows into her role as wife as she gets to know her new husband but trusting him and deciding if she wants to spend the rest of her life with him is a big decision.
I really enjoyed the way the ladies came around Della and helped her adjust and how Della was able to help them as well.

Meghan Kelly is a fabulous narrator and brought the characters to life expertly. All in all a very enjoyable and sweet listen.

Cowboys & Debutantes

A very sweet Mail Order Bride novel. Della Stout is forced to become a mail order bride when her family loses everything to a swindler. Can she make the transition from New York City debutante to Montana bride?

The characters are wonderful and the story is often humorous, as Della has to learn to cook and clean (among all the other things that young brides need to do). Clem White is a perfect gentleman, running his own bank and living in a small apartment above the bank.

The growing relationship between Clem and Della is wonderful and I especially enjoyed "meeting" the ladies in the town of LIvingston, Montana.

If you enjoy a sweet, clean romance with a HEA ending, this is a great short book to listen to as you commute or work. The narrator does a very good job and added a lot to my enjoyment of the book.
