Story
Maggie's latest case is an unidentified female in her early teens, discovered in a local cemetery. More shocking than the girl's injuries - for Maggie at least - is the fact that no one has reported her missing. She and the detectives assigned to the case (including her cop ex-husband) are determined to follow every lead, run down every scrap of evidence. But the monster they seek is watching every move, closer to them than they could possibly imagine.

Publisher's Summary
When her daughter, Rachael, working a summer job at the Ritz-Carlton, calls Cleveland forensic scientist Theresa MacLean to say a murder has just occurred at the hotel, Theresa knows she's stepping into a forensic mess. A local criminal-defense attorney has been bound and beaten to death. The victim was attending a convention for criminal-defense attorneys, which means the list of suspects could stretch a mile long. Two more bodies are found in quick succession, each killed in a similar manner, and the authorities know they have a serial killer on their hands.
As Theresa searches for the threads that tie the cases together, she begins to fear that both she and her daughter are closer to danger than either of them realize.

Best of her 3 books (so far)
I enjoyed reading one of Lisa Black's earlier books in this series (her first book) and enjoyed listening to the second one. This one was much better than either of those, I thought. Narrator also does a good job with the various characters and the tone, etc. I'll be looking for her next book and with this narrator.

good story & narration but ...
I liked the story, set in Cleveland- which sounds like a much more interesting city than I imagined it to be- even worth a visit one day. I found the relationship between Theresa and her daughter Rachel believalbe- would like to learn more about her cousin Frank.
What I found distracting was the "you have reached the end of the CD" messages- 1 in the 1st have and 2 in the 2nd half- not up the usual standards for audible books.

Loved it
The writer keeps you in suspense. I could not put it down. I also liked the narrator! She really expresses the authors intent.
