Publisher's summary

Fight for your death.

When regular high schooler Grady Hake is mistakenly taken by the Angel of Death, he thinks his life is over. Then, he wakes up on a prison shuttle bound for Van Diemann’s Planet, a penal colony run by brutal gangs of criminal cultivators.

This is his life now, and if he wants to survive it, he’ll have to learn to harness his unique death spirit, make friends with alien outcasts, appease a band of hungry ghosts, and fight his way into one of the strongest gangs on the planet.

From Eden Hudson, best-selling author of Rogue Dungeon and Path of the Thunderbird, comes a brand-new series you won't want to stop listening to. Death Cultivator is a sci-fi wuxia for fans of Shonen manga and anime such as Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, and Deadman Wonderland.

weird choice for narrator

the voice doesn't match the characters and you forget you're dealing with younger people.

Fun and bizarre

The strange, hostile world of this book is full of unusual imagery and exciting adventure. I look forward to the next one.

The narrator is Travis Baldree, who is perfect and wonderful, of course.

Fun mesh of sci fi and cultivation

There are some diverse characters in this world which made for interesting interactions. The plot is original and I didn’t know how it was going to end. I’m interested in seeing more of this world. As usual Travis Baldree delivered a fantastic performance.

Great story, worth a listen

Great story and action. I enjoyed this story a lot. I think there are a few times when there could’ve been a bit more story is some points. The author could have expanded on how the MC felt about dying and a few other times, like figuring out things that don’t really make sense. He suddenly knew what to do when he hadn’t done the thing before

Death Cultivator
(Death Cultivator #1)
by eden Hudson
Narration by Travis Baldree
I loved her Jubal series! I was very eager to start this but it started a bit slow but built up later and got really good then. Its about a teen that is always bullied, lives with his grandfather because his dad is in prison. Due to a mess up by a grim reaper/angel, he is killed and taken for crimes and sent to a prison world and not the criminal who attacked him. (Who has a name similar to his.)
This planet has all species of creatures from all planets and they are mostly criminals. He meets friends right away and he also gets in trouble right away. This is his story of learning to survive on this planet as a death cultivator and fighter.
The narration is a pure delight because Baldree is preforming! One of my favorites!
Lots of action. Great characters. Great narration! What's not to like?

Well written!

A surprisingly fun cultivation novel! I was surprised with how well the story flowed and how well all the characters were written.

Great Fun!

Felt like a kid again reading Harry Potter for the first time, which was sort of bad because I binged the 3 books that are out right now and neglected some life stuff. Awesome mix of cultivation and space western with a great sense of adventure and discovery. Characters and dialogue have a refreshing realism. The main cast are awesome and easy to root for, with great dynamics between them. Can't wait to see how the story unfolds!

As always, Travis knocks it out of the park.

Excellent

so, yea....I bought this book cause I liked the title and the cover art was neat..... and yes I bought both books not even knowing if this author was gonna be good at the book writing or the story telling. SO, Yes I'm quite happy that this book is VERY WELL, Written and the story is very compelling and I'm quite glad I get to go straight on to the second book. AND I have a new author to look into for other good series.

better than I was expecting!

the summary for this book makes it seem more of a sci-fi than a fantasy, which it has a lot of both. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the book though!
