Publisher's summary

A killer is playing cat and mouse...and winning.

DCI Whitney Walker’s in trouble. She’s threatened with demotion if she screws up another case. So, when a killer starts murdering female students, it’s a chance to redeem herself.

Forensic psychologist, Dr. Georgina Cavendish, has spent her life inside the university walls, but when one of her students is murdered, she steps out from behind the text books and puts her skills to the test.

The two headstrong women join forces to stop the killer. But sparks fly when real world policing meets academic theory, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Deadly Games is the first book in the Cavendish & Walker crime fiction series. If you like serial killer mysteries and psychological intrigue, then you’ll love Sally Rigby’s thrilling listen performed by award-winning narrator Clare Corbett.

Includes a special bonus note from the author.

Critic reviews

"Narrator Clare Corbett flawlessly creates the accents and setting of Lenchester, England, while introducing Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker and her polar opposite, psychologist Georgina Cavendish.... Corbett's best creation is pathologist Clare Dexter whose eccentricities add a bit of levity. The well-rendered step-by-step procedural, with its gripping conclusion, makes for an exceptional listen." (AudioFile Magazine, review of Cavendish & Walker)

Brit crime addict

an admitted binge-watcher of British crime police procedurals - this series hit the spot left by a lack of fresh series on Prime and Netflix. Really enjoyed Clare Corbett's performance. Can't wait for more!

Murder became personal

DEADLY GAMES. By Sally Rigby....# 2
Life for George has been within the halls of the university. Even to her now live in boyfriend hasn’t been to happy taking second place with new students coming in this year, A murder becomes personal for George when she knows the student. DCI Whitney messed up the last case, could she redeem herself, she had to . Her superintendent was giving her once more chance when she was called to the university. It becomes personal for Whitney when her daughter Tiffany is involved. Together they work to figure out about the twisted mind that the killer has of killing students.
First I have read by the author, like the flow, and the woman characters. Showed their flaws and what was motivating them.
Narration by Claire Corbett was superb and added to the story

It’s about time!

First of all I was so excited when I found out walker and cabinet this we’re going to be on Audible. I love this Siri’s that Sally Rigby has put together so intelligently. Deadly games is intriguing and one you will not be able to put down. I forgot all about how cantankerous it was between Whitney Walker and George Gina Cavendish. This is a great book a great thriller and one any mystery fan would love.

Something missing

It is all just okay. The stories are straight-forward simple police procedurals. The author doesn't make us care about the characters. I read the first three (because I listen while I work) and was disappointed with each of them. After all three, I still don't care about the characters. If they hadn't been included in the Plus Catalog, I would have only read the first one and returned it.

Bad plot and annoying characters

Very disappointing. I got the feeling that the author watched a movie about one serial killer once and then decided she'll write this book. I am sure that there was absolutely no research about police work, academic work and forensic psychology. Two main characters are incredibly annoyong and stereotypical. And the reader is annoying too. Not sure that I'll be finishing this one.

DCI Walker makes me grind my teeth

I have very little tolerance for a main character who has no self awareness. When that is inevitably combined with an enormous chi- on-the-shoulder, I'm done. I found DCI Walker annoying, boring, and predictable. The rest of the characters were 2 dimensional also. I gave up after about an hour. Just not for me.

I also found the narrator to breathless and grating at the same time. Thank goodness for Audible's returns policy.
