For generations, we've been stuck with a cookie-cutter mold for success that requires us to be the same as everyone else, only better. This ""standard formula"" works for some people but leaves most of us feeling disengaged and frustrated. As much as we might dislike the standard formula, it seems like there's no other practical path to financial security and a fulfilling life. But what if there is?

In the Dark Horse Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, bestselling author and acclaimed thought leader Todd Rose and neuroscientist Ogi Ogas studied women and men who achieved impressive success even though nobody saw them coming. Dark horses blaze their own trail to a life of happiness and prosperity. Yet what is so remarkable is that hidden inside their seemingly one-of-a-kind journeys are practical principles for achieving success that work for anyone, no matter who you are or what you hope to achieve. This mold-breaking approach doesn't depend on you SAT scores, who you know, or how much money you have. The secret is a mindset that can be expressed in plain English: Harness your individuality in the pursuit of fulfillment to achieve excellence.

In Dark Horse, Rose and Ogas show how the four elements of the dark horse mindset empower you to consistently make the right choices that fit your unique interests, abilities, and circumstances and will guide you to a life of passion, purpose, and achievement.

Well written by the author. The narrator did a great Job and kept me engaged without a skip.

Well done…

I really enjoyed this book. The last chapter impressed upon me just how salient the ideas are at this moment in history.
It’s on the short list of most impactful books I’ve read in the past decade.

A poignant re-imagining of the method of success and how to live the American Dream

I think the idea, content and research was really good. I would have loved to get a little concrete suggestions for finding the dark horse inside is. the people's stories they shared were great but possibly over done. The narrator made it pretty hard to listen to by changing his voice depending on who he was quoting. The high voice he used to quote the women was almost offensive. made it seem like what they were saying was not important. Then when quoting a Marine the tone changed to one of a dense uneducated person. not sure any of that was needed. A book like this doesn't need to be a "performance".

Great Content and Idea, but the narrator...

The review is based solely on the speaker doing the reading rather than the content of the book. On the whole it was fine however I find it very disruptive that he put on fake voices when quoting somebody else it was super disruptive and for the females it was very inappropriate he needs to re-record that and not put on fake women’s voices it disrupted my ability to enjoy the content significantly

Great book but bad reading
