Jackson and Mia

Pursuit of Danger is an extremely delightful slow burn, age gap romantic suspense featuring Mia and Jackson. At first, Jackson is unhappy to have Mia working as his assistant. Things eventually start to change as Mia begins to get acclimated to the job and Jackson’s attitude. When trouble comes for Mia, Jackson obviously wants to help. So, what happens? Well, sit back, relax and get ready for a wild ride.
The full cast duet narration was phenomenal. Ruby Hunt was brilliant as smart, sassy, snarky, happy, beautiful Mia. I could feel all of her pain, fear, angst, uncertainty, passion and love through her voice. Aaron Shedlock was delightful as grumpy, growly, surly Jackson. His love and total devotion to Mia was very clearly evident in his voice. This talented cast is completed by Teddy Hamilton as Braden and Sebastian, Ava Erickson as Cici and Michael Gallagher as Eli. They worked together splendidly to bring this story to life. I highly recommend listening.

Complicated forbidden romantic suspense, excellent

Dangerous Pursuit is book 3 of the Pursuit series. Jackson is the more easygoing brother from past books, but when he is faced with running the family business and a new assistant still in high school and basically forced on him by his parents his hackles are up and he decides to be terrible to her until she quits. He really goes the extra mile to be a terrible boss and it is hard to experience and not hate his guts. Mia has other plans. She is desperate for the job, the work experience, and to prove she can do it. She is a few months shy of 18 and off limits to Jackson, who is 26. I struggled a bit with how awful he is to her, but the author handles it well and no legal lines are crossed. Mia’s determination to remain positive, not react to his attitude, and to do a great job is powerful. There is definite steamy attraction and they both try to deny it. She is very mature for her age, having grown up fast out of necessity with a truly terrible father who has left them in a bad situation. I did struggle with the age gap and the power dynamics at work and in general with a major income and social gap.

There is a romantic suspense aspect that sneaks up and takes the angst and the rollercoaster to new levels with some really terrible characters manipulating the situation. Overall, the story flowed well and when the rollercoaster got going it really swept you up. I was surprised in several places and the way Jackson evolves and what he does to make things right really goes the extra mile. No spoilers, but they are well matched, fall hard, and he sticks with it and goes well above and beyond. This story went in directions I was definitely not expecting.

Narration in duet with Aaron Shedlock and Ruby Hunt and a supporting cast of Teddy Hamilton, Michael Gallagher, and Ava Erickson rounds out this story well and really makes it more immersive. Many of my favorite narrators bring this book to life, along with some new ones. The casting is great and the editing is well done to bring us the duet experience. Overall, the narration really tipped the story in my favor even when I was struggling with the age gap and power dynamic aspects of the book.

Good things come to those who wait

Another wonderfully written book in this series. The narrators did a wonderful job. All the turmoil and intense emotions can be felt. Mia meets Jackson when she goes to work for him. He is a complete playboy, bosshole CEO. Even though Mia is young she is an old soul who is very feisty and gives Jackson a run for his money from the start. Jackson met his match and does everything in his power to protect Mia. These two have off the charts chemistry and seem to be on the same wave length even with the 10 year age gap. I will say I struggled with the age gap on this one but the way it's written is very respectful and realistic. This slow burn forbidden romance is full of danger, suspense, intense heat and lots of witty banter. Love all the characters and am looking forward to the next book. Definitely a 4.5 star must listen.

This was my least favorite of the series. Not because it’s not enjoyable just because I struggled a little with a few “phrases” nothing I couldn’t get past. I also had trouble feeling the connection between the characters.
He calls her “little girl” I was not a fan of that nickname.

Overall, this is a good story. I enjoyed learning more about Jackson and liked seeing him get his HEA. I found him to be sweet and spicy.

While I mostly loved the story and the narration performance SO much -without giving a spoiler- the way the main female character acted , especially at the end, was so disgusting/annoying and immediately had me thinking that’s what happens when children date…
