Amazing book for parents!

This is a very well written and informative book about anxiety in children. As a parent with a young child and a niece who exhibits some signs of anxiety, it’s really good to educate myself on this topic. The author gives clear signs that you can watch out for and so many practical strategies you can implement with your child. These are not only good strategies for children with anxiety, some are even good to create confidence and establish a bond with any child. I found the examples the author gave extremely useful and I also took away the importance of seeing a therapist early on. Highly recommended for any parent!

Insightful and Informative Read!

As a former educator and parent, I enjoyed reading the book thus far because it assists those who work with/have children in managing difficult behaviors that may arise at any stage in child development. These strategies can help one to combat behavioral obstacles early in a child’s life in order for them to manage themselves as they get older. This book has definitely helped me to reflect on how to adjust my current parenting methods to implement strategies that will benefit my child’s social emotional development.

Change starts within

I recently had a conversation with my mom to help me understand why anxiety seems to be so much more prevalent in today's youth compared to when I was growing up. In conversation, there were so many things we discussed and we realized that the way of the world, the pressures we all have (parents and kids), societal expectations, and the overwhelming use of technology all play a role in adding to our children's anxiety. When I grew up, we went outside and we played. In today's world, they are glued to their phones, TVs, and video games and are secluded so they are not getting those essential social skills. That gap between how I grew up and how they are growing up can create a lot of tension between parents and children. In this book, the author emphasizes that expecting a change in your child starts with the parent. Through the author's explanation, my mind began to shift from trying to fix my child's issues to understanding my role in their emotional well-being.

Throughout the book, the author reviews the variations of anxiety experienced by various age groups but kept the solutions age-specific which made it easier to tailor to my child. I like the various techniques the author provides such as meditation and breathwork. If your child is struggling with anxiety, this book can really help you to get a baseline of where to start and to help you begin to implement change.
