Along with awesome power comes the greatest test of will.

Despite his humble farming roots, young Fearn displays incredible powers. Blessed by Dainua to harness the strength of every soul surrounding him, he’s known as an Asinta and could help the kingdom vitally. However, due to dark events that marred the name of those akin, Fearn finds himself distrusted by the superstitious villagers and even his own father, Dair...effecting untold sorrow.

To overcome the ancient ills of prejudice will not be easy. Luckily, there’s magic, too, beyond the spatial world—in words. As taught to be a “teller of tales” by Dair who long has honed the craft, Fearn learns with creativity to also quickly capture minds. When wicked comes to visit, however, one mentor alone will guide the boy—a mentor with a story that has yet to end with due revenge.

Fearn soon shall discover the cost of love and loyalty—of hate and betrayal—and venturing to save his land, he’ll run the risk of losing himself as deamhons play for keeps.

Finally a great Fantasy book that isn't LITRPG

The fantasy market has been drowned with LITRPG. It was nice to get a good fantasy book with a unique magic system. Very well written story line and the narrator was top notch. If you love coming of age fantasy book give this a try. It won't disappoint.

great story

This is a very original storyline, I know nothing like it that I have read. Very exciting and hard to put down. It is also nice not to have a story full of swear words, none as I recall. No racy scenes either. Full 5 stars. The narration was also intriguing.

High Fantasy done right

Crop Burner: The Tale Of Fearn & The Deamhon is the debut standalone High Fantasy novel from extremely talented author Gavin Black. The writing is excellent, the world-building is vividly captivating, the characters are well drawn out and relatable, and the overall story is entertaining and compelling.

This reads as a classic fantasy adventure that although employs all the tropes of the genre, manages to come across as fresh and original. Just like in many other renowned fantasy works, the story follows a young farmer boy destined for greatness. Young Fearn was born cursed, but he holds the power to save the kingdom from dark forces. This is all I’m willing to tell you about the plot because I don’t want to spoil any part of this adventure for you, but rest assured, there are some epic adventures expertly woven in order to guarantee your enjoyment.

Talented voiceover artist, audiobook narrator, and natural teller of tales, Dylan Wheeler delights and entertains the listener with his performance of Crop Burner: The Tale Of Fearn & The Deamhon in audiobook format. He does a fantastic job of bringing all the characters to life by harnessing an insane variety of credible voices and accents.

He reads in a mesmerizing voice, he acts, he enthusiastically keeps this story going with emotion, professionalism, and passion. Although this was my first time listening to Dylan Wheeler, I am really glad to have discovered him and I think he is perfectly suited to bring us this captivating story filled with myth, love, loyalty, heroes, ghosts, magic, war, hate, warriors, legends and betrayal.

If you like works of fantasy by Neil Gaiman, Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, then I highly recommend that you don’t miss out on Fearn’s epic tale because it definitely deserves your utmost attention!

I think that we are bound to see more unforgettable adventures like this coming from Gavin Black and I hope he will stick with Dylan Wheeler as the narrator of choice for those as well.

Crop Burner: The Tale Of Fearn & The Deamhon is High Fantasy done right! If you like beautifully written stories, well-developed characters, and flawless world-building, I highly recommend that you give this one a try!
