When professional duelist Conn Labro escapes indentured servitude as the star player of Horder's Emporium, he abandons the gaming world of Thrais, and sets out on an interstellar journey filled with murder, deceit, and self-discovery. His only friend on Thrais, dead and tortured, left him enough money to buy himself out of his contract, and a curious encrypted "bearer deed" to a mysterious property. In an age of wizards and walled cities, Raffalon is a journeyman member of the ancient and honorable guild of Purloiners and Purveyors—in other words, a thief. His skills allow him to scale walls, tickle locks, defeat magical wards. He lifts treasures and trinkets, and spends the proceeds on ale and sausages in taverns where a wise thief sits with his back to the wall. But somehow things often go the way they shouldn’t, and then Raffalon has to rely upon his wits and a well-calibrated sense of daring.

Sinclair Rutherford is a young Seattle cop with a taste for the finer things. Doing menial tasks and getting hassled by superiors he doesn't respect are definitely not "finer things". Good police work and bad luck lead him to crack a case that changes quickly from a career-making break into a high-profile humiliation when footage of his pursuit of the suspect - wildly inappropriate murder weapon in hand - becomes an Internet sensation.

It was ok
Really enjoyed the first book, I was excited to see where it went. But I became pretty annoyed with how indecisive and how much of a pushover and Chesney continued to be. I didn't expect him to be Thor, bringing down the thunder, but he lets everyone walk all over him, particularly the reverend, angel etc subplot irritated me. But if you're a fan of the first book, you might love this one, I didn't.

Can't stop listening!
The book is amazing. I couldn't stop listening, so I downloaded it on mobile and listened to it everywhere I went. My wife was displeased that I couldn't hear her.
