The pursuit of the truth might cost one Wyoming lawyer everything …

In the wake of a trial loss and personal upheaval, defense attorney Sam Johnstone is drawn back into the legal fray by an accused drug dealer involved in a fatal fentanyl case. The dealer's tantalizing offer? Pivotal information that could exonerate the son of Sam’s former partner in exchange for representation.

As Sam ventures deeper into this moral minefield, he uncovers suppressed testimony that could incriminate a former client … and threaten his own career.

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author James Chandler comes the sixth book in the Sam Johnstone legal thriller series; perfect for fans of John Grisham, James Patterson, and C.J. Box.

This one felt a bit fractured and lacked conformity to a steady storyline. Can a reader be disappointed in the main character they’ve come to respect and admire? Chandler has his dedicated readers fully vested in Sam; we hate to see him fail, flounder, or self struggle. Perhaps that’s why this one feels a bit “off” from the previous titles in the series.

Better than Good but short of Great

Sam stayed true to form as a protagonist. The internal joys and struggles were relatable to most audiences in one way or another. The ending seemed confusing and rushed. The secondary characters didn’t get the closure they deserved. That said, I enjoyed yet another book in this series.

Still Sam

Having listened to all of the previous books in this series, it was surprising to see the change in Sam’s character to one more grubbier and edgy. It was off-putting at times. Nonetheless, it was an intriguing story with very interesting characters.

What can I say? Broke my heart. Touched my soul.
Made me weep. Thank you.

Everything and More.

The ending seemed unfinished, hurried.Could have provided more development and /or closure of Sam's character downfall

Good suspense and continuation in the series.

Enjoyed story and narration and I loved the legal analysis and courtroom drama/dialogue. However, too many things left hanging . . . Would still recommend.

Ending unclear?

I have enjoyed this series, but this latest book left me feeling quite frustrated. Too many things unsolved. There was not even a resolution for the case that dominated this story. And the next one in the series is a year away! I do feel like the author kind of left us high and dry. Excellent narration but way too many unanswered questions.

Too Many Loose Ends!

The story was engaging enough. I like the main character Sam and the story of his personal journey. Some of the story lines were a little rushed and not quite developed. Overall, it was a good read.

The Saga Continues

Did not enjoy this book as much as the previous books. Story line was a little repetitive of the last books written.

Love Sam!

loved the twists and turns with the characters. Love then or not, they make a superb novel. Nothing to dislike.

Sam Johnstone never disappoints
