Great from the start

Aptly Named!!!!

I have been waiting on another novel by Peter Kirkland , AND IT IS HERE!!!!

I was expecting the same narrator, J J Hosenfeld, but we got someone fresh and new and very intriguing in his narration, Jeffrey Kafer. I love that he doesn't struggle to change his voice for characters, But if you are paying attention you can clearly hear the accents change and when he does the voice for any female character he brings the pitch up perfectly.

I love that the story is diverse and that the focus on the case is personal for Spencer. Spencer has his own hang ups and I think his FIL, Alastair, gives him cases to make him stretch but to show that he still has what it takes. I love that he has a great support system in his wife and the dog that he didnt want at first. The one client he has that he doesn't care for, Bob, is straight comic relief.

The case that is most of the book is about Amber and her affair with the former mayor turned elected senator. There is baby and an estrangement that maske you question from the jump all you think you know. But as the case moves on and more poeple are involve you learn that what you thought you knew is not true but a little shady..and the culprits are those we are to trust the most...apptly titles!!!.

Weak characters

The narrator is so flat and monotone. The characters are weak and not well developed.

Small Town Trial!

This is such a good legal thriller with an addictive plot. I like the characters. The author does a great job weaving a story that keeps you engrossed in the story-line and characters. Spencer, a lawyer, is dealing with case that might be more than he imagined it to be. The story develop is great with intrigue and suspense. The narrator did a great job as well.

Story very good.

PK never disappoints with his books. I think I’ve listened to all of them,, but the narrator got on my nerves with his voice as well as some others narrators.
Did I miss what happened with his hearing which led to his h/los?

Captivating!

This is the first book in the Spencer Dunn Legal Thrillers series — an ongoing series of standalone cases featuring the same lead character. Spencer’s investigation is truly captivating. I really enjoyed the mystery, intrigue, suspense, and all the unexpected twists and turns. Alongside the legal case, we also get a glimpse into Spencer’s personal life with his wife, which adds warmth and depth to the story. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job bringing the story to life — his voice is perfectly suited for legal thrillers. The murder investigation wraps up with a satisfying and intricate conclusion, while leaving just enough open to lead into the next book in the series. I’m definitely looking forward to continuing!

Crime thriller

Small Town Trial by Peter Kirkland is an amazing murder mystery thriller. Jeffrey Kafer did an excellent job with the narration. Small Town Trial is the first book in Spencer Dunn Legal Thriller series. The story is thrilling, entertaining, interesting, and more.
