Good Material, Bad Audiobook

This book does not lend itself to being an Audiobook. If you space out for a second, you can find yourself lost for the next 5-10 minutes. The author does not repeat what he's talking about, so you have to pay careful attention.

I'm familiar with DBT and other common therapeutic techniques, so I didn't find anything new in this book. The book would have far more value as a reference text where you can page your way to a specific chapter for review.

Sam Slydell has a nice voice, but the material droned on making hard to stay focused.

excellent book

I work in the mental health field and have had training on CBT and seen the results of this type of therapy. I found the book to be very easy to read and understandable. If a person cannot (or will not) attend therapy in person this seems like the next best thing, especially if the depression and/or anxiety is not already too debilitating. Some people will need the professional help. If someone you love would benefit from CBT then you should read this book as well. You will be better able to support this person if you understand the process, and you may find that you yourself will benefit from the skills learned. This is a workbook with room for you to enter information and thoughts. This will allow you to see growth and change on your journey to “getting your life back”. I really enjoyed this book but that might be because I already know that it can be a success story!

Very Practical

I enjoy this book because it offers tools for self help, alongside understanding. I am still going back to listen, write things down and work on the exercises!

social today

This book i it gives you a good scientific background on how our minds work and why they work that way, in addition to referencing the history of mindfulness and the way it's part of our society today.

learned a lot

I really enjoyed the approach this book takes. It encourages you to go through slowly, one chapter per week, doing the exercises and really thinking about how you feel and why you feel that way. The book encourages you to change aspects of your thinking and your behavior by suggesting alternative ways of being. A lot of the material proved to be an eye opener for me. It is essential that the reader takes the time to write down their thoughts as requested throughout the book. Take the time to review these notes as you progress through the book, you will learn a lot

stress relief guide

This is a straight forward, easy to understand CBT book. It explains what you are doing every step of the way, and is really very helpful. I loses a star because the 7 weeks is only really possible if you used this book for about an hour each day. This is still a very good book, and while I'm far from finished with it, I've already begun to experience some relief.

great purchase

Very pleased with this purchase! I haven't been able to go to a therapist in quite some time but I've already received more from this book in two weeks than I have from probably ALL of my past therapists combined. Well, one specific therapist excluded, but he was amazing! (DBT therapist)

Superb One

I liked it. I have been going through CBT to deal with some anxiety and this gave me a greater understanding of why we do certain activities and exercises certain ways and it has helped me get the most of my sessions.

Great User Guide...!!

This book was inspiring and motivating. It provides simple and easy to understand instructions that can improve your life and mental status such as learning to control your thoughts or circumstances and not letting them overpower you. It was evident that the author did extensive research and along with his former sufferings of anxiety and depression, he was able to put together this power read. This would be beneficial to anyone that would like an insight on the CBT process, as well as, better mental health.

Great introduction to CBT

At first I thought I was going to regret purchasing this audiobook as it was beginning to feel like every PDF you've ever read. However, pretty quickly, the format of the content won my attention and I stayed with it from start to finish in one sitting and even contemplated going over it again right away. So whether you have any personal issue(s) or just an interest in CBT as a topic, you'll likely find some value in this book.

Wonderful Book

This book digs into psychological development to provide a deep understanding of different types of Cognitive Behavior therapies and how it is useful in treating conditions like anxiety. It's a very informative book. It was a very helpful proof of the concept plan, so it was very important. So far, I've read a recent book. Easy and easy to understand. Suggest a very good book!
