Perfect book, perfect reader

If you enjoy great characters, magnificent dialogue, English stuff, and/or romantic comedy, you must have this book. Please don't let the Puritan-sounding title put you off. But I really want to talk about the narration. The well-named Kate Reading does a magnificent job in her narration of this book. All of the characters are well-acted and nicely differentiated, even the men, which is unusual. More importantly, Reading understands what she's reading, and she gives the proper comic or dramatic timing and emphasis to each phrase. This is my favorite novel, and I'm surprised to find that I enjoyed listening to it even more than reading it.

A wonderful performance

Kate Reading's narration brings out the color, liveliness, and biting wit of the novel, which is no mean feat, given its large cast of characters. You can tell she had fun recording it, which makes it all the more enjoyable to listen to. Don't worry if she seems to be speaking too rapidly at the beginning; that's just her voice for Mrs. Bennett, and it is perfect. This version of P&P is my favorite -- it even beats out the BBC miniseries, where Mr. Darcy jumps in a pond for no apparent reason.

I love all of Jane Austen's books- they are like 1800's soap operas with beautiful language and impecable morals....

Yes, Because all of the wonderful characters especially lizzy.

I couldn't compare it to any other book.

Which scene was your favorite?

When they were walking through Mr.Darcy's mansion and the maid was talking about Darcy and Elizabeth hears and can't believe she's talking about the same man she thought she knew so well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh,yes.

Everybody should read this book,because it is the best of all Jane Austin's books.

Panache and Personality

Ms. Reading does an excellent job depicting the individual idiosyncrasies of the different characters and brings them to life. She captures the intended humour in some of the scenes so well that I had to stop myself from laughing out loud!

Excellent

I was a little apprehensive at first with narrator esp. when Kate should imitate a male's voice, oh did I cringe! However I was pleasantly surprised that as time went by I was not as aware her impersonation.

I?ve loved this story for years, and this is a complement to the book and mini series. It is a must listen.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book and I've read it at least a dozen times. Kate Reading not only narrated it beautifully, but she matched the tone of voice I'd imagined for each of the character. It was perfect and I highly recommend this.

I like be this book. I listen to it over and over again. Sometimes it helps me sleep! Well performed.
