The Tradesmen are no more. With the help of his allies, Charles finally managed to oust the nefarious guild and free Liora of its iron grip. Yet, the destruction of the Tradesmen had an unexpected effect. The vast territory they were controlling is now up for grabs, triggering a race for all Champions to claim as much land as possible. And in that rush, new dangers and enemies arise.

To counter those threats, Charles - always the big thinker - decides to create a coalition, some sort of defensive organization like NATO from his old world. But when he sets on his way to meet with possible members, something happens and one Champion is murdered in front of him. Before he disappears, the assassin makes it clear that Charles is next. And not even Roost, Knives, or Alamander might save him.

Is this the end of the road for the ruler of Tine, or will he manage to use his wits and a lifetime of experience to once again escape sure death and the annihilation of his nation?

Follow Charles as he returns to the Scale Market to trade with more dragons and curry favor with them. Follow him as he is finally forced to develop his army and start investing money and points into military advancements.

Best Yet!

Not only does book 5 continue the economic expansion and city building this series is known for, we also get to dive deep into personal connections and discover new characters. The dragon storylines are great and the interactions between champions has really found its stride. All the stories in this series feel like you get to live a real live Civilization game session, which is done better than I've ever seen it. The only downside with this series is the short run times. Still, I'm looking forward to continuing the series!

Sim City Midevil

It’s basically Sim City, story is good, there’s no random battles like adventure books, lots of negotiations like in that anime Rebuilding a Kingdom, the MC had me worried, thank god I was wrong. Give this one a go, you’re gonna love it.

Intriguing escapism, this one really flows well

I enjoyed almost all of this quite a bit, including the crazy "rational" romance, that somehow worked. The battle action late in the book was a thorn in the excellent flow of the story. But overall this episode was one of the best in the series. I took a huge break between CivCEO four and five, and was quite pleasantly surprised. The narrator is excellent.

Another book I have to recommend it was a lot of fun listening to this one

Yet again if you like civilization this is book

We begin to see the shapes of is of a civilization becoming a teenager growing into a nation With a perfect bridge to the next book

Adds Breadth to the Series

This book broadens the series in several ways. Without spoilers, it adds a whole new layer to the meaning of alliances.

I got to say I know he's not supposed to be perfect but his estranged friends have a point ,although they are idiots in all things , he is obvious to social Qs and I would have put him in his place or down with his social and military neglect , any nation with laws needs a police force to enforce and apply them and a military to defend its people in my book he's a failure at everything but commerce and should've been removed from leadership bit thats just my opinion

MC dominates a game filled with chumps

His allies love to take a back seat, letting the MC do the work. Then they get mad when their non effort doesn't give them a larger piece of the pie. I hate that. You aren't entitled to anything unless you put on the work. Everyone in this book is a leech, looking to feed off of the tit of the MC.

the game is afoot

I love that with every book it really starts to become more and more like a game of Europa universalis. I also appreciate that it has kept a more mature perspective of the world throughout the series

listened to the whole series and really enjoy it. great characters, great voice acting, just an all around great series
