Why should you join a church?

Becoming a member of a church is an important, and often neglected, part of the Christian life. Yet the trend these days is one of shunning the practice of organized religion and showing a distaste or fear of commitment, especially of institutions.

Jonathan Leeman addresses these issues with a straightforward explanation of what church membership is and why it's important. Giving the local church its proper due, Leeman has built a compelling case for committing to the local body.

Concise Church Membership

This book gives a concise yet thorough explanation of what the church is, what church membership is and why it is a important. I found it helpful. That said, it is written from a baptist/congregational perspective so there are elements of process that sounds me will disagree with. It is a general primer on the subject

Great book explaining church membership

In this short book, the author wastes no time getting to the definition and importance of church membership. The author explains how important church membership is for a Biblically sound church. A must read if you are part of a church plant team or you’re starting a new church!

Very traditional

I appreciated the amount of scripture used.
Most of the stances in the book are taken directly out of a traditional Christian Bible. I might argue on some interpretation and very slight political ideology spillover but overall the book is internally consistent. It is accurately inline with traditional churching.
I very much agree with his take on what the Church is and what a church is. Also excellent ideas on the community in a church family.
If you identify as a Christian read this book. :)

A bigger picture of how to be the Church of Jesus Christ

Jonathan Lehman paints a very good scriptural picture of how the church of Christ is meant to operate, with local bodies of the church being like families who hold each other accountable, support, love, instruct and occasionally discipline when necessary the members for the glory of Jesus Christ. An encouraging book laid out from scriptural wisdom and real experience.
