Publisher's Summary

At the end of Fuzzy Navel, J. A. Konrath surprised listeners with an agonizing cliff-hanger: One of Lieutenant Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels’s loved ones is dead. But who? Listeners were left clamoring to know more.

Cherry Bomb, the sixth Jack Daniels mystery, opens at the funeral. While Jack stands graveside, tears in her eyes, her cell phone rings. It’s the killer, escaped maniac Alex Kork, taunting Jack, drawing her ever further into a twisted game of cat and mouse. Because while Alex is more than willing to kill random victims, Jack is her true prey. But which woman wants revenge more?

Cherry Bomb is J. A. Konrath's most gripping novel of suspense yet—filled with twists and turns that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats.

"One part murder, two parts mayhem, with a generous splash of humor and garnished with some of the most interesting characters in current fiction." – eBookreporter.com

Narrators are terrific!

I like the Konrath books (all of them), but I especially like Dick Hill and Susie Breck as narrators. Don't read this book--LISTEN to it. And start with Whiskey Sour if you haven't read any yet.

Not impressed

The Jacqueline 'Jack' Daniels mystery series novels are highly variable in quality. Of the ones I have listened to so far Cherry Bomb is the worst. 2 stars is being very generous. The narration is outstanding.

Obscene in two ways

The writing may actually be pretty good. But for me there were too many detailed sex scenes and way too much equally obscene violence. I’m not a prude and I’m not squeamish, but I stopped about 30% of the way into the book. The female narrator was OK but I didn’t care at all for the male narrator. I think he’s talented because he read several characters with vocal changes. But his voice and pronunciation were unattractive to me. I can’t recommend this title.

Another stellar entry

A fitting end to the Kork family line. The book does a great job ramping up the absolute terror and anguish felt by Alex's victims and Jack's losses. Although, because the books have been out for a while, the initial twist that was set up in the last book doesn't have nearly the shocking punch it did when it was originally released.

Dick Hill and Susie Breck continue to do a wonderful job giving the characters their own distinctive style of speech and inflection (Alex sounds different from Jack, ect)

There were points where the comedy felt off, namely the introduction of Slappy. You could have largely cut that out and not miss much.

Susie, Dick, Konrath the bomb

I have really enjoyed this series. Funny, action, murder, crazy people and the monkey. I bought the next 2 books in the series and just realised that Susie Breck and Dick Hill are not narrating these books WT It won't be the same. Awesome wrighter awesome narrator, s. How can they just do that. I'll try since I already purchased them but I will return them if I don't like the new narrator. Dam shame 😤😜 I was having fun with this series.

Susie Breck and Dick Hill are fantastic narrators

As with all the Jack Daniels audible series, I love the storyline in each book. Susie Breck and Dick Hill make the characters come to life. Love listening to the parts for Harry McGlade because it's hilarious to me.

Harry and Slappy. Hysterical stuff!

There's a darkness to this book. Some troubled times for the protagonist. Be prepared for loss. Then there's Harry. Harry and Slappy. Hysterical stuff. The narrators truly make Harry's wit shine. In the end, the book strikes a good balance of highs and lows.
