Woke Gospels Linked by Weak Storytelling

at no point did I think "I can't wait to see how this finishes"... at many points I wondered if a computer wrote the sections not discussing gene therapy, the characters lacked realism, therefore the story never drew the reader in. as for the woke content; remember when we read books to escape the negatives in everyday life...no getting away from it in this book.

Half hooked, just couldn’t bring me all the way

The premise of this story is actually quite brilliant, well thought through and researched which is typical of crouch. The narration which others have mentioned was mediocre at best which is made it difficult to fully engage even in the most action packed parts. Would also say the protagonist lacked depth. Enjoyable listen on my baby bonding leave, but definitely not as good as dark matter and recursion.

Just ok

The concept was interesting, but the whole story ended up being flat. The beginning grabs your attention, but that slowly fades.

I'm a scientist now

I struggled with this one. So much scientific stuff read aloud just sounds odd. At one point he just starts rattling off a list of diseases and their abbreviations. I felt like I was in a college chem class.

Performance was hear and the story idea was good. Just a rough one for me.

I am a Fan of Blake Crouch But...

I am a huge fan of Blake Crouch but, this book's story was very obvious. I like the twists and turns of his other books and this one just didn't take me on a great ride. I loved the number of details and research that went into the genetics and overall idea of a future in this type of world. However, the story itself just didn't have me on the edge of my seat and left me with a sense of wanting more.

Another Winner!

Another excellent near future science fiction drama from BC. I look forward to the next!

Great first exposure to Bryan Crouch

I am a retired professor of Orthopedic Surgery. Therefore I find medical fiction of little interest. However, this novel was extremely well researched and written. Although some parts may have been overly detailed, they were accurate. I’m now moving on to my second Crouch novel.

Fact heavy but well written

Sometimes the science facts would make me rewind to better understand, but Crouch always has really innovative and fact-based unique plots. Like Crichton with heart.

Science Fiction at its finest

Blake Crouch takes science fiction to new levels every time. You have to think, you have feel, you cannot just read this book and be left untouched. It’s beautiful. Worth every penny, worth buying a sold copy to have to re-read. I love the characters, I love the relationships. I love the honesty.

Great read, highly recommend

I personally loved this book. Crouches writing style is absolutely riveting. I find it very easy to associate and sympathize with the feelings and motives of the main characters.
