Publisher's Summary

Gary Thomas, best-selling author of Sacred Marriage, believes that one word can bring hope, light and life into any marriage: Cherish

"Most marriages survive by gritting teeth and holding on. But marriages can and will not only survive but thrive when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another", Thomas says.

And in a world desperate for marriage redemption, the act of cherishing is needed now more than ever.

Thomas shows that although there are a countless number of marriages consisting of two people just going through the motions, there are real ways this pattern can be reversed: when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another in proven, loving, and everyday actions and words.

Through personal stories and real-world examples, Thomas proves what husbands and wives can begin doing today to turn their marriage around - even a marriage marred by neglect and disrespect.

So how do you cherish your spouse? Thomas will show you how going out of your way to notice them, appreciate them, honor them, encourage them, and hold them close to your heart will bring hope, light, and life into your marriage.

Every husband needs to read this book

Gary Thomas nails it with this book. There are handful of books I need to read every year, and Cherish is definitely one of them. He gives practical tips and biblical insights into how to not just love your wife, but cherish her. Get this and listen to it immediately.

(He also does a great job narrating!)

A gift from above

My best friend passed away 13 years ago. ~Cherish~ was a word she used to use a lot. So much so we teased her about it sometimes. Fast forward to 2016, I was struggling in my marriage, I prayed and out loud, verbally asked my best friend to HELP ME!! I started browsing for books and within minutes there it was right before me *CHERISH*... wow. I was shocked. I was even MORE shocked it was about MARRIAGE. I bought it without even reading the whole summary. It was a sign from above, truly for me it was. I was a little turned off by the constant religious references ( I'm more spiritual than religious I guess) and I almost stopped within the first chapter. BUT because of how this book came to me, I had to complete it. Period. And I did. I'm so glad I did :) I also had my husband listen to it as well. It helped us tremendously and was the first book we both listened to, to aid in our marriage troubles. almost 3 years later and 12 years of marriage, we are stronger than ever. I even have the word tattooed on my arm now :) So thank you! To the author and my best friend <3

Cherishing the Change in me

I haven’t been the best at looking for help or realizing that change is necessary In a relationship, but this book opens all the doors to and for a tarnished heart and soul. It’s well worth the read/listen.

Cherishing vs bitcheng and moaning!!

The point of the whole book is to become the spouse who values and cherishes my spouse. Am I going to be a grateful, thankful person or a complaining, miserable person! It's my choice and that choice will bear fruit! Thanks Gary for the encouragement to be thankful with zeal for my spouse!!

Best Marriage advice I've ever heard

I seriously learned so much from this book about how to improve my marriage, and learned what I was missing. After 20 years of marriage, we can get set in our ways of interacting with one another. I realize that I need to be intentional about cherishing my husband. Most importantly, I realized that I need to work on my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. If I can truly feel His love for me, I will be able to demonstrate that love to others.

Not a great perspective setter.

After reading several of Gary Thomas' audio books and wanting to transform my marriage, this last read sent me into a hopeless spiral of despair. What Gary essentially says is if you spend your entire life loving your spouse, you MIGHT get a good end-of-life partner. But if you don't, God is good, so suck it up and live off of that.
I grew up in an abusive home. My husband doesn't abuse me, he stays faithful, and he brings home a check. Our boys are clothed, fed, loved, and brought up in faith. But I have been waiting to be deeply loved by another human my entire life, and I just may never have that. Gary says it's okay. That God is enough. God may be enough, but my hurt and the impact on my kids, and the resulting depression from this has not been fruitful. There have to be better options for Grace and support out there than Gary's pitch here.
