A fascinating tale of a hardworking journalist and activist’s journey of pursuing justice for the forgotten victims of violent crime. Jensen and Kilgariff’s engrossing narration is icing on the cake. If you love true crime you’ll love this fresh take on procedural investigation.

Inspiring and Intelligent

This audiobook is crisply written, engaging and suspenseful. There is both satisfaction and frustration, never losing the empathy. There is never a moment when the victims of the crimes (including the families and loved ones) are forgotten. These aspects combine to make this book a compelling call to action- one that is both emotional and level-headed. I really recommend the addendum as it offers concise instructions into how to channel the enthusiasm that the audiobook inspires.

Loved every moment of this audiobook experience. My only wish is that I had a paper copy to display on my bookshelf, flip through, and revisit. Excellent work!

Would have paid for!

I love Billy Jensen’s podcast, The Murder Squad, and of course Karen’s, My Favorite Murder. What a great story about writing about crime and being a civilian sleuth. Loved the story about the GSK too!

Full body chills

Love hearing all these stories from Billy’s POV. Chapter 15 will give you all the feels. I had chills for the entire chapter.

Came for the solves, stayed for the creative troubleshooting

Loved Billy’s candor sharing how insanely frustrating and seemingly fruitless this process can be, but still choosing to move forward anyway. His writing draws in the reader with details of cases, and before long they’re completely invested and craving the sweet reprieve they’ve come to expect in these types of stories. Only to find, that sometime, against our best efforts, there isn’t one to consume.

His call to action is noble, pragmatic, and one I can only hope murderinos everywhere and alike can contribute and support along the way.

Amazing and captivating

I listened to this in a single day while at work and it was super enjoyable, not to mention it made the day go by super quickly. Jensen is an amazing narrator and I loved 'chasing darkness'

Joining the hunt into the darkness

Billy Jensen gets why true crime is meaningful. He says it's because we want to put order where there's disorder. When we hear about a horrible crime, we want to know somebody will pursue it and never stop. It's hunting, appealing to our intellect and the oldest brain parts we share with reptiles.

This book hooked me within a minute, like he was talking to me alone. Then it morphed into a crowd of us, and I felt a sense of belonging.
