Once a sworn enemy of all monsters, Anita is now the human consort of both Jean-Claude, the Master Vampire, and Micah, the leopard shapeshifter. Not quite as human as she once was, she is consumed by both their hungers—desires that must be sated time and time again. And when a centuries-old vampire targets Jean-Claude and his clan, Anita finds herself tested as never before—needing all the dark forces her passion can muster to save the ones she loves the most...

Praise for Laurell K. Hamilton and the Anita Blake Novels
“Hamilton remains one of the most inventive and exciting writers in the paranormal field.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris
“If you’ve never read this series, I highly recommend/strongly suggest having the Anita Blake experience. Vampires, zombies, and shifters, oh my! And trust me, these are not your daughter’s vampires.”—Literati Book Reviews
“A sex-positive, kick-ass female protagonist.”—Starburst
“Number one New York Times bestseller Hamilton is still thrilling fans...with her amazing multifaceted characters and intricate multilayered world, a mix of erotic romance, crime drama, and paranormal/fantasy fiction. Her descriptive prose is gritty and raw, with a mosaic of humor and horror to tell this complex, well-detailed story. But it’s her enigmatic stable of stars that continues to shine, managing their improbable interpersonal relationship dynamics.”—Library Journal

And Ok, the narration was better than I thought it would be. I’m a huge fan of Kimberly Alexis’ narration of this series. I believe it’s important to get and keep a single good narrator for a series that has a single main character like Anita Blake. But I have to give credit to Holloway for a darn good job with character differentiation and emotion. It was good enough that she “disappeared” into the book, and the story took center stage.
My favorite part of this book was Jason’s conversation with Anita about the men in her life.
My favorite lines were:
(1) If you throw the furry through a windshield do they still not bleed? (2) Tonight was like small-talk, combat style.
Recommend.
Not Alexis, but gotta give credit due
