Story
I thought my sister was happy. I thought what we all thought: that Annie and Dom led perfect lives in a lovely cottage in a quiet village by the sea, with flowers at the front gate and an apple tree in the garden. Everyone knew them: generous, loving Dom, creative, joyful Annie. But I never saw Annie as she sat waiting for Dom well into the night. I didn’t see her smiling through her tears. I didn’t know what the perfect couple was hiding.

Samantha Frayn doesn’t know why Peter Bridges picks her - a nobody with bitten fingernails and a troubled childhood behind her - but she falls quickly. He’s older, charming, likes fine wine and French films, and his beautiful home has real art on its walls. Peter transforms Samantha’s life in an instant. He sees the better version of herself - the one she’s always wanted to be. It’s only normal that there’s a little friction, when she moves in, over domestic matters like where things are kept, or the proper times to eat, sleep, and shower.

Publisher's Summary
What would you do if no-one was watching?
Rachel is afraid she may have done something terrible. She's sitting in a room, being asked whether she killed someone.
She doesn't understand how her life has changed so completely. When she was younger, heads would turn when she walked into a room. Her children needed her; her husband adored her.
But somehow the years wore that all away. She was so busy raising her children, looking after her parents.... She can barely remember the woman she used to be, the one whose husband told her she was out of his league. The woman she is now just does the laundry and makes the dinner, and can walk into a room without anyone knowing she's there.
She knows that she hated feeling invisible. She knows that she thought: what would it take for you to see me again? What if I did something no one thought I was capable of?
Can You See Her? is an utterly compelling and unputdownable psychological thriller, about how far you can push a woman before she will break. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, A.J. Finn and The Silent Patient.

Amazing...listen till the very end!
I listen to so many books and rarely ever take the time to write a review. This book get me interested the entire time. Without giving any spoils it was actually very touching and had me teary eyed. I did not see the ending coming at all! You may think it’s predictable at times but it might not be as predictable as it seems. The narrator also did an amazing job. I highly recommend :)

Soooo much dialogue.
The minutia of someone's every rambling thoughts told by way of therapy sessions make up 99% of the book. Mental health issues are over generalized, and conflated. Do yourself a favor, skip to last five chapters.

A woman in her 50s with many troubles
Without any disrespect intended, this is what the book is about. I doubt any man or anyone under 50, would finish listening as the main character is going through menopause and there is a lot about how she feels (whereas maybe women over 50 would empathise). It's a long book (considering the story) and it could probably have been cut by 1/3 and there would be no difference. Not the usual SE Lynes style book I have always enjoyed.

Good Psychological Thriller
I'm always wary when the publishers feel the need to include words like: "An Absolutely Compelling Psychological Thriller" as part of the title! It's normally a sign that this isn't quite 5-Star material and needs selling!
It was a good listen for most of the way through, not hard to follow, lots of intrigue about where it was going. That part was all positive. Then with an hour to go, it felt like things were all wrapped up, the twist was rather predictable. Surely there must be another? ...Without giving anything away, I thought that the final hour wasn't as good as the rest of the book.
The story revolves around the Edwards family. Rachel Edwards is in police custody being interviewed, murders have occurred and Rachel feels that she will soon be locked up as a result. The interview continues for most of the book as the truth gradually emerges.

Loved it!
So much of this book resonated with me. As a ‘lady of a certain age’ with a husband and three kids I can relate to many of Rachel’s life experiences, and challenges, and often feel quite ‘invisible’. This book made me laugh, and cry and has to be one of my favourite Audible reads. Finished it in two days. I would highly recommend it, especially if you are a grumpy, sweaty, invisible, menopausal woman!

Just wow!
I don't even know what to say about this book. I am a huge fan of S E Lynes and as audiobooks they are fantastic. I get lost in listening to every book. However, this one is in a league of its own. I seriously was so immersed into the character of Rachel, the feelings of empathy and love has struck a cord with me. She is such a beautiful character, all her emotions I could feel in my chest while listening. Honestly had me in tears, and I am a tough nut to crack when it comes to crying from a book. Of course the twists and turns are captivating as always with the talented S E Lynes. But the way greif and love is described in this one will stay with me forever I think. Just wow!

An exceptional mix of thrills and compassion
I loved this story - and it is a proper story, in that although it’s essentially a psychological thriller it’s brilliantly interwoven with the beautifully described emotions of an engaging protagonist. The story twists and turns til the end, and is movingly narrated. Highly recommend.

This one put me through the emotional wringer
I listened to a lot of S E Lynes books at one point, and for some reason stopped and moved on to different authors. When I was looking for a new listen recently, I decided to see which of her titles I'd yet to read and I'm so glad I chose this one. It was a really compelling story, well performed, as always, by Tamsin Kennard. As someone who listens almost exclusively to this genre, while I enjoy them at the time of listening, stories often merge together quickly once finished, but I think this is one of the rare ones that will stick with me.
The main character is clearly unreliable, which always adds an interesting element to a story; can we, the listener, trust what we're being told? We're immersed quickly in the story and its gripping throughout. Her fast pace and tumbling thoughts keep things lively and interesting while keeping the story moving along. Everything is tied up beautifully and I only worked things out seconds before they were revealed. It touches on a lot of issues and does so thoughtfully and with consideration. I love the way the author speaks directly to the reader at the end, and there were several points where this story had me in floods of tears.
I'd definitely recommend this book.

Really good emotional character - loved it
Reminded me of the BBCs Talking Heads - really loved the way the story progressed through interviews. Narration was excellent.

Gripping and twisty!
Another fabulous story from SE Lynes. A gradual build up and descriptions so vivid it was like I was there, I was Rachel, searching my memory for dark things buried. The characters were very relatable and the theme of empathy so heart-wrenching I was totally unprepared for the twists and turns as the plot unfolded.
The narration was on point and really added to the experience.
I need to catch up on my sleep before I read the next book!

Good at the start and annoying towards the end.
It would be a lot better if reading instead of listening to this book. Too much whining and crying.
