Publisher's summary

To save her town from decaying into oblivion, a young seamstress embarks on a quest that weaves together magic, mystery, and monsters.

In an impoverished border town with a population dwindling as fast as hope, Gwen Tailor aims to change things. She is a daughter of the Seamstress class, drawing on the bloodline skills of her mother, who stitches with a speed that veers into the realm of magic. An awesome feat. But armed with a giant piercing needle, Gwen is more than a seamstress. To save her people from extinction and create a pattern all her own for survival, she must be a monster slayer.

In the core of the town is the dungeon, a deep-pitted breeding ground for all the local despair and decline. Gwen is going where the monsters dwell. For every new kill, each creature's pelt, shell, and exoskeleton will become not only protective armor but a source of escalating power. With the help of her friends—Sandy, a cleaver-wielding butcher's daughter, and Gerald, a young blacksmith with near-wizardly talents for forging enchanted weapons—Gwen has a team to be reckoned with. Monsters, beware.

Would that it were so simple. Descending into each cavernous new level, Gwen will make a harrowing discovery about the true roots of her town's decay. And they are more overwhelming and far-reaching than she ever could have imagined . . .

Really good voice acting, solid story

Dressed to Kill is a story with a surprising amount of heart. I've really enjoyed my listen of it. Andrea Parsneau did a great job, and Crown Fall's characters and story are fun and believable.

A fun listen!

Besides being voiced by the spectacular Andrea Parsneau, the writing is quick paced, witty, and interesting. It’s a great twist on a formulaic genre. The monsters aren’t the typical orc, goblin, ogre yawn fest but are more animalistic. I like that the story is character and plot driven and not just stat driven. The heroines are also cool because they stay true to their roots. They aren’t just a pair of one-in-a-million over powered little weirdos that suffer but always win. I like that they’re just crafters trying to save their town.

Pretty fun story

This book was overall a really good time, the world is interesting with a lot of potential and questions about how it got to the way it is. The powers and skills are cool and rather unusual for the genre, the characters are likeable as well. There are a few moments where the character asks a question she ( and us) should already know the answer to and some of the twists were a bit predictable but nothing big enough to bring the story down.
Only 2 real issues 1 as other reviews have stated there is no reason for the light isekai aspect present, it is mentioned a couple times in passing but as of this book adds nothing to the story. Secondly the narration is good but she talks very fast, now this could just be because Ive listened to slower narrators lately but it was noticeable until i got used to it (been a while since ive listened to other works narrated by Andrea Parsneau so dont remeber is this is her normal pace). Stat read outs are present and decently frequent but are usually short enough to skip easily if desired. All in all a good book and im excited to see where it goes from here

I actually like this one.

I thought it was a good story, and the reader has a really good voice but there were a few times it seemed the paragraphs were running together like there were no pauses. Once I got past that I really enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next.

When a crafter becomes a hero

This is a story where a crafter uses their a Abilities in a very smart and intelligent way when there are so many limitations on them and we get to know that that is something that normally would happen but with a little imagination a lot of willpower and love she can do so much more Along with our friends and it has a nice and clever way of dealing with the ark into the next buck

great characters

i really like the relationship between the main cast and their parents. Andrea really nails the voices to every character in the cast, lending to the lovable nature of the characters. Can't wait for book 2!
