This is an ok beginning to a new cozy mystery series. The characters are formulaic and uninspired. Sophia and her family are perfect, yet, everyone else in town has problems. The mystery is ok which is why I was able to finish the story. The love triangle is unnecessary and did not help the story. I might get the next one to see if the characters develop more.

Unlikable characters. poorly written story lines.
The heroine is truly unlikable. She is whiny, nosy to the point of flaw, and a gossip. There are many errors in the story if anyone knows about how a school operates, a bakery, or a professional kitchen. The author may wish to research these aspects prior to writing further.

GREAT NEW SERIES
I SELDOM READ THE FIRST BOOK IN A SERIES THAT IS SO COMPELLING. I FIND MYSELF GETTING A LITTLE IMPATIENT WITH SETTING AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIRST IN A SERIES. NOT SO WITH THIS BOOK. IT IS. "JUST RIGHT," TO QUOTE GOLDILOCKS. THE CHARACTERS ARE GREAT. THE STORYLINE IS GREAT, AND THE NARRATOR DID A WONDERFUL JOB. I AM ABOUT TO START BOOK 2 AND HOPE BOOK 3 IS NOT FAR BEHIND.
