Publisher's summary

It may be cold outside, but inside, the temperature is rising. When grad student Kevin Taggert goes home with his best friend for Thanksgiving, the last thing he expects is to drool over the guy’s dad. Forty-eight-year-old Drew Freeman would love a relationship, but he never expected to find it with his son’s best friend.

When a last-minute change of plans leaves Drew and Kevin alone in a cabin the week before Christmas, the heat between them is too much to deny. Although they promise it’ll only last the week, every day that passes brings them closer together. When Christmas Day arrives - along with Drew’s son - can they salvage the relationship and the holiday?

Kevin & Drew

I loved Kevin and Drew’s story! Their story grabbed my attention at the first as I’m a huge fan of best friend’s Dad. Throw in a dose of forced proximity and you have some super hot sexual tension building. I loved the early on are we or aren’t we flirting, followed by some “should we or shouldn’t we”, which really turned into a page turning story for me. I had a giant smile on my face while I read it, which really came at the best possible time! I enjoyed their developing relationship, and the fact they tried to keep their relationship platonic. These two just meshed from the start and you couldn’t help rooting for them, even with the roadblocks in their way. I appreciated them both being concerned with their respective relationships with Jason - Drew’s son and Kevins’s best friend and roommate. I loved when they gave into that hot sexual tension they brought out together! You kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and drop it did. While I was a bit worried, I’m really glad for how it all worked out. If you’re a fan of age gap, best friends dad, forced proximity with a dose of the holidays - this isn’t one to be missed!

I had enjoyed this story so much, I grabbed the audio when it came out. This was a new to me narrator. At points I had a hard time differentiating between characters. However i enjoyed diving back into Kevin and Drew’s story!

a good holiday romance

I really liked this story. It was a bit angsty and the choices the main characters made were frustrating at times but so very entertaining.

James Edward Jones’s voice was easy to listen to and made the story even more enjoyable.

Meant for each other

Perfect holiday story. It is a age gap but doesn’t feel that way. Drew and Kevin are meant for each other. The story has such lovable characters. Both are considerate guys. Both care about the other strongly. The author brought so much emotion to each situation. The family dynamic on both sides, even Drew’s ex, left me with warm feelings. The secondary characters added so much to the story. The narration by James Edward Jones made each character sound and feel individual. Made it great to listen to.

Low angst, heart warming romance

James Edward Jones always has a rocky start in every title I've listened to after a few chapters it's like he's worked his way into the title and he sounds much better and I end up enjoying the title more than I thought I would. Brigham Vaughn is definitely an author that I've come to enjoy from her Hockey series. I really enjoyed following Kevin and Drew as they met, tried to hold back and the eventually gave in to their desires..while not extreme spicy there were some deliciously sensual moments. Jason was a selfish asshat but glad he finally got himself together. The ending was nice...but felt a little too long.

4 stars - worthy of a repeat listen

Lovely Best Friends Father Romance

My favorite best friend's father romance thus far. Excellent character development, realistic storyline, and romance abounds. Perfectly narrated. Highly recommend!

A beautiful, emotional, sexy story!

I loved every single second of this book.
Brigham Vaughn always manages to break my heart and then put it back together with every single one of her stories. And though this one is probably on the less angstier side, it definitely tugs at your heartstrings.
Kevin and Drew are perfect for each other and, had they met in any other circumstances, their relationship would be a done deal and so easy despite the significant age difference. But Drew is Kevin's best friend's dad, and they both know Jason would not take it well, so they decide not to act on their attraction. Only, when they start talking more, they find the attraction isn't only physical...

Great age gap holiday romance

M/M
Best friends dad
Forbidden romance
Age gap (48 and 20s)
Forced close proximity

Kevin is away at school with his best friend. It's his last year in the Masters program. It is Thanksgiving and he is feeling lonely but his family is too far, so his friend invites him to go home with him. One weekend at Thanksgiving turns into another week over the Xmas holidays and when said friend takes off the entire time to try and make up with his ex gf, that leaves his friend and his dad all alone in a cabin together.

Drew is 48 and divorced and bi. Even though he hasn't dated a man, he isn't about to start with someone half his age and his sons best friend, but those sparks are strong.

Narration = 3 stars

The narrator had a pleasant reading voice and kept a good pace. This was a new to me narrator and although I didn't hate it, he gave just an average performance. He wasn't monotone but he expressed very little emotion and there was no distinguishing difference between the different characters voices.

Fun age gap romance

I absolutely loved this story! I'm a sucker for a good best friend's dad romance and this one is perfect! Brigham nailed all the issues with the age gap and made me fall in love with Drew and Kevin as a couple. James Edward Jones did an amazing job as the narrator!

Steamy But Frustrating Snowy Cabin Age-Gap Romance

Forced proximity at Christmas is quickly becoming a favorite romance trope, and I liked the approach to it here. Grad student Kevin (24/25) joins his best friend Jason for the holidays, and sparks fly when he winds up staying alone in a snowy cabin with Jason's silver fox dad Drew (48).

Getting to know each other over several days at Thanksgiving includes some heavy flirting, but they're both painfully aware of how their mutual attraction can't go any further for Jason's sake. But their connection proves undeniable and culminates in a blissfully steamy week-long cabin rendezvous at Christmastime until Jason arrives to throw a bucket of ice water on their budding romance.

Jason hangs over their relationship (and this story) like a gloomy cloud, and I found the grown man's immature and selfish reaction to discovering them together - even if being overly dramatic is his M.O. - to be almost as OTT ridiculous as Drew and Kevin considering Jason's feelings above their own. I was also annoyed at Drew for how quickly he cast Kevin aside when it all went down, and their reconciling with each other after Jason begrudgingly gives his blessing was all wrapped up a little too neatly for my taste.

Narrator James Edward Jones has a pleasant voice I enjoyed listening to, though the character voices didn't sound all that distinctive to my ears. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Vacation fling

I love this story and how they become more. Jason is going home and invited Kevin to tag along. Drew is the father that sparks Kevin heart. It’s a beautiful story about two people coming together and finding love.
