Publisher's Summary

Please Note: The audio has been updated for better sound quality.

This audiobook was created based on Clayton Christensen's landmark book The Innovator's Dilemma. This was Mr. Christensen's synopsis of his book for the Harvard Business Review. The audio tracks listed here cover the key elements of Mr. Christensen's book. This audiobook emphasizes the Idea in Brief "Does my organization have the right resources, processes, values, and team to innovate?" Then it covers the right structure for your specific type of innovation. He identifies where capabilities reside, in resources, processes, and values. He then addresses the migration of capabilities, illustrates it with the example of Digital Equipment (DEC), defines sustaining versus disruptive innovation, how to create capabilities to cope with change - internally, in a spinout, or an acquisition - and how to fit the tool to the task.

poor quality summary only

Would you try another book from Clayton Christensen and/or Deaver Brown?

This is incredibly poor quality recording and a summary only of a great book.
Sounds like recorded in a bathroom, when you can hear computer's fan and the narrator clicking a mouse, some weird background noise. The narrator seems to read it without much understanding and preparation. Avoid!

This is a summary, not the whole book

Any additional comments?

This is a summary, not the whole book. I feel like the term unabridged is misleading. It is dull in presentation and the information only applies to large businesses already in operation. Not my cup of tea. However, if you manage a large business and are interested in innovation from that perspective, the information might be helpful, I wouldn't know.

HORRIBLE PERFORMANCE... JUST COULDN'T LISTEN TO IT

What disappointed you about The Innovator's Dilemma?

I could not handle listening to this thing for more than two minutes... the quality is terrible.

It was recorded in a noisy environment with no technical resources nor knowledge at all!!

How could the performance have been better?

Someone recorded this at home with the worst microphone ever and lots of background noise!!

Terrible Quality

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I guess its a good summary of the full book, but the audio quality and narration are terrible. It reminds of me of a podcast, yet even those have better quality. I know this was a cheap download, but I was a little surprised to Audible let this one through. Maybe if you need a refresher on The Innovators Dilemma listen to this, but otherwise stay away.

ABRIDGED !!!!

What would have made The Innovator's Dilemma better?

This is ABRIDGED!!! The recording is only 58 minutes long.

What was most disappointing about Clayton Christensen’s story?

Did Deaver Brown do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

What character would you cut from The Innovator's Dilemma?

Any additional comments?

don't buy! audio quality is horrible

What didn’t you like about Deaver Brown’s performance?

The audio quality of the recording was really poor. Also, the reader's tone was quite uninteresting. I won't buy audiobook read by this guy again.

Any additional comments?

Please re-record this audiobook!

Poor audio quality and unprofessional

I thought this book was very poorly done. Sounds like a good book though so I will keep my eyes out for another version. Maybe I will ask audible for a refund on this one.

Bad Peformance

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different narrator

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Innovator's Dilemma?

I can not hear Deaver on this book

How could the performance have been better?

The voice and pace is just not good enough for listening

Poorly performed summary by the author

This was a very poorly performed summary of the book. It sounds like the author took some notes from a speech, sat down with a tape recorder and went through it in one take. It's full of vocal fillers, lackluster narration and mistakes. Not only is the content lost out of context of the book, but it seems like poor quality that should not be on Audible. This is the perfect case of "bad branding" for an author who I'm sure is a genius, but comes across as lazy for not hiring a narrator. Do not buy, buy the book instead and invest the time required to listen to a properly performed audiobook, full of the stories and lessons that make this book so popular.

Thus is only a summary

This is only a 1hr long summary of the book. Content was fine for a summary. Didn't have a good studio quality of presentation or narration I would have expected.

Bad recording and (perhaps) not BY Christensen

Wish I'd read the previous reviewers comments before I bought. I think there are some interesting points from the book here (and the product is quite cheap) but it really does sound like it was recorded in a bathroom! Is this in any way actually BY Clayton Christensen? It appears someone is summarising Christensen's book making this in fact a piece by DEAVER BROWN ....with all due respect I'm fairly sure I wouldn't have bought a book by Mr Brown.

Feel free to purchase as long as you understand this a recording ABOUT a book - I should have checked more closely...

Poor

This is a very poor recording (possibly in a bathroom given the amount of echo) of a SUMMARY of this book.

I would NOT recommend it.

Great content, poor sound quality

This is a fantastic book for anyone starting a new project. It's easy to understand why this was Steve Jobs favourite business book..

Unfortunately the recording sounds like it's been done in a public toilet.. This is a real shame as it initially put me off.. if the audio was remastered I would buy the book again!

I feel cheated!

When I purchased this I thought it was a high quality production like all the other books I've listened to on Audible. Instead it's an enthusiast recording a summary in what could be his bedroom. Not impressed.

Terrible audio and reading quality

This is a great book, but the reader really makes a hash of if. It's presented in a really dull manner, like it's been recorded in someone's bedroom and the reader even slurs his speech at times. Not recommended. Buy the book!

Audio quality could be better

Other than a poor recording quality this book was good. A very pleasant length, succinct and to the point. Needless to say Christensen is a master in the topic of disruptive innovation.

Terrible quality audio and confusing commentary

This is the worst quality audio recording I've ever heard on a professional audiobook. It sounds like it was done with a built in PC mic. I am not even sure how much of the original Clayton Chrisiansen text I heard, since the narrator interjects his own annoying commentary all the way through. Very disappointing.

Lost me.

I am a fan of the full book but this audio book even after listening to twice completely lost me.

I would prefer to have the full book with examples or case studies to make real.

Great book but poor sound quality

This is a great book but it should be recorded again. The sequel: "competing against luck" it's a much better experience to listen.
