Publisher's summary

Jonah Steel is knee deep into trying to solve the mystery surrounding his family and his brother's abduction, and the arrival of his best friend has complicated the situation...although not as much as his infatuation with his brother's therapist, Dr. Melanie Carmichael. The quiet humility of the blond beauty has him enthralled, and he burns for her as he never has for any woman.

Melanie Carmichael is intelligent and driven, yet filled with regret. She has fallen in love with gorgeous Jonah Steel, but fears she may never be able to tell him. The demons from her past have come for her...and she may not get out alive.

Addicting with Cliffhangers!

This won't come as a surprise to you if you've been following this series... it's another cliffhanger! This story seems to keep me coming back for more even though I hate cliffhangers. As with the last 4 books this story picks up at the end up the last book. This is one long story but 4-6 are told by a different brother which is kinda fun to get a different perspective but also have the story just keep going with the same secrets and the same basic story line from the beginning.

So far I have LOVED all of these book but I have to say this book found me rolling my eyes a few times. I don't know if it was my mood, the narration or the writing but I had a couple small issues. Johan's story has a little bit of an insta-love feel which I dislike more than cliffhanger and some of the "love scenes" are a little to mushy for this series. Also, there is a sex scene that he says/thinks "I shoved my face into her covered Vulva".... totally made me cringe and the rest of that sex scene was blah for me. Vulva just doesn't belong in a sex scene nor does it belong in a guys POV, IMHO. Besides that I really enjoyed the books and will be waiting for book 6.

Narration... Still not a big fan :(
Now here is the thing, If a male narrator can't do a female voice... he shouldn't because it really takes away from the story. I like Alexander Cendese but I think he should only do duet narration because his female voice makes my skin crawl :( He is great at the male POV so I hate to say he's not a good narrator because that just isn't true. Teri Clark Linden isn't a favorite of mine either, she makes Melanie come across a little flaky with her almost child like voice. I completely agree with a change of narration since from books 1 -3 since books 4-6 are different main characters and deserve their own voices, I just didn't agree with the choice of narrators.

Get Sebastian York back PLEASE!

I'm hooked on the storyline but am having a hard time justifying the cost with these narrators. I fast forwarded through EVERY sex scene and the majority of the S&M parts because the voices just make me hate the characters. I fell in love with Jade & Talon but Jonah & Melanie make me want to pinch a kitten. I can't wait for Ryan's story to start- then I'll know if I should give up these expensive saga. Be careful and thoughtful who is chosen to finish this epic tale. Perhaps a random sample of audiobook listeners would help. I can't imagine anyone really listened to or compared the narrators. It breaks the story in this case like a textbook example of what to do right in the first 3 and what to do WRONG in the second 2 (3 I'm assuming). Spare us please.

Ripped Off

It's not ethical to release half a book and charge readers for a full one. The previous books in this series, while being cliffhangers, did offer resolutionso of the main story and were much longer. This was clearly purely and solely a cynical exercise in upselling marketing by the publishers. Shame on you ! The narration was also overly dramatic which spoilt a good story.

Narrators destroyed the story

Is there anything you would change about this book?

just the narrators

What didn’t you like about Teri Clark Linden and Alexander Cendese ’s performance?

Alexander Cendese reading kinda grew on me in this book. He was awful in Melt..but his female voice is horrible.
Teri Clark Linden's voice is so breathy, so fake sounding it's almost unbearable. I was disappointed to see these two were reading again.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

better narrators

PAINFUL

First, note to the author. Please in future books, stope with the repetitiveness. We get it. He feels he failed. We don’t need to hear him repeat the same words over and over. This series started off so strong, then it switched to a different brother and narrators. This was so over the top. I skipped through so many parts just to get to the parts that talked about Talon. Melanie and Jonah are so ridiculously over the top. If Jonah said he failed one more time I was going to scream.

And the story goes on...

I love the story of the Steel Brothers. Love that an important and relatively taboo subject for romance novels is addressed and done so in a cleaver way. The characters development from book to book is good and I’m a huge fan of Helen Hardt.
The only negative thing I can say is that I wish I would have read this book instead of listening to it. I wasn’t impressed with the narrators at all. Alexander Cendes sounded like every sentence was a life shattering event. As the oldest brother in this series and basically the head of the family, I would have thought he would be more calm, cool and collected and not sounding like he was saving someone from a burning building with each paragraph he read.
Teri Clark Linden on the other hand, sounded like she needed a few cups of coffee. Although, I get she is playing a psychologist and should sound more subdued, she could have thrown some enthusiasm in during some parts, like the sex scenes at the very least. She was very monotone and I found to be boring to listen to.

Still no resolution

This saga was just too stretched out. I agree with the person who said these books could have been put together into 2 books. Audible doesn't have the next one so it's over for me.

I didn't care for the male voice. the female alone would have been good.

ANOTHER CLIFF HANGER

Would you listen to Burn again? Why?

Oh god no!! Don't get me wrong the story is a good story and it keeps you thinking the whole book. I just wish that we can get an ending here soon. This story is good the narrator kills it in all the books. Sebastian York did such an amazing job why change what isn't broken. Like a sucker I'm hooked to the book waiting for the ending, but it seems like it will be dragged out even further.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

THE LEAST INTERESTING IS THAT WE DON'T HAVE AN ENDING YET.

How could the performance have been better?

First off who ever hired the male Alexander Cendese must of had hearing problems. He is the worst Narrator I have ever heard. His female voice is a joke. Also WTF was he thinking when he tried to speak like the Doctor. ( worst Spanish accent ever)

Any additional comments?

GIVE US AN ENDING ALREADY.
