The third in the hilarious yet sizzling hot Hudson Valley series from New York Time and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton.

Clara Morgan is living the dream, if you can call rebranding hotels that are desperate for a new life and running any kind of marathon a dream. Which she does. But the career she loves and the endurance races that keep her adrenaline pumping have kept her too busy to put down any roots. Growing up in foster care, she’s never been able to establish traditions of her own, which may be why she’s fascinated by the rituals that generations-old family resorts are known for. She’s especially interested in the Bryant Mountain House, and not just for their secret recipe for the yummy, gooey, can’t-get-enough-of Hot Cross Buns….

Archie Bryant, the man with the Buns, is fifth generation and one-day-owner of the charming yet run-down Bryant Mountain House in Bailey Falls, New York. He’s determined to save his family’s legacy from the wrecking ball the old-fashioned way—by gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done. There’s no way Archie will be influenced by the new hotel branding expert his father brought in to turn one hundred and fifty years of tradition on its head just to attract a faster, younger, slicker crowd. But when some of Clara’s ideas start bringing in new, paying customers, Archie can’t deny that she may have just given him a shot at keeping his resort open.

It’s sticky, it’s messy, it’s sweet, it’s Buns.

Hmm Ok I think I wanted to like this story more than I did.
I loved Archie, you can’t help but feel for him. And Clara is a likable girl don’t get me wrong.

But I think waiting for her to open up just took too long.
She expected Archie to just word vomit all his secrets and feelings but she keeps her all bottled up.

And believe me I get why, it just kinda of felt like she could have opened up a lot faster than having to wait till the last chapter.

I did like the back and forth with these characters and we get to see some of our favorites from books past yaya!
That’s always fun for me.

I just I don’t know maybe I was expecting more. Over all I enjoyed the story and the characters.

And the narration is fantastic they both bring this story to life in a way that made me want to keep reading.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

While i enjoyed this book it wasnt my favorite in the series. I like that the author does a great job giving her characters individual personalities. So many authors write the same people over and over. Narrator made the male lead sound too stuffy at 1st where i wondered if i was going to be able to finish it, as he sounded like a real ass but as the story progressed she got better with his voice as he relaxed. Story line was interesting, i have never thought about what would go into a historic hotel revamp.

Liked it

Alice Clayton always gets it right. Her stories have humor, friendship and love. I wish I loved this story five stars but for some reason the self created drama in it felt unnecessary rather than well placed angst. I loved that we spent so much time with friends from her other books, that's always fun!

Love anything Alice

Would you try another book from Alice Clayton and/or Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter ?

Yes I have most of Alice Clayton 's books. I have enjoyed her comedic dialogue. As a matter of fact I listened to the Wall Banger series first and the began this series re-reading Nuts and Cream.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending was just ok. I did like that some characters from her other series came on over into this book for a visit and to do business, that was cool. I love when an author can do that.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter ?

I have plenty of books with both of these narrators. Elizabeth Louise has a youthful voice and is sometimes too annoying. She does better with some characters then others. I would say she played Clara perfectly. Jason was fine.

Do you think Buns needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I don't thing Buns needs a follow up per say? I wouldn't mind knowing where Roxy and Leo and Polly end up. I would even mind reading about Oscar and Natalie. If you want to do a full book and touch on each couple I would probably read it.
I just didn't find Clara and Archie that exciting.

Any additional comments?

Out of the series, this book was not as enjoyable for me (my opinion only).
I felt that Archie was rude and not very enticing as a hero in the story. I don't see the attraction for these characters.

I love Alice Clayton, this series was fun.
