More like a TUNNEL...

I read Book 1 in this series and it was, if a little wordy and too long, promising. Book 2 however is either an example of sophomore slump or typical of the author and should be avoided in the future. I will perhaps decide this if I can borrow Book 3 for free, give the author another try. I will NOT buy book 3. Book 2 had a promising story line but the author kept the subplot of the FBI agent's twin sister too much in the spotlight. Because of this, the author had to keep re-telling the emotional turmoil of Agent McLane regarding her twin. I'm sorry but at her supposed age and after so many years of dealing with a narcissist with a healthy dose of sociopath thrown in, plus a multiple addiction problem, a trained agent should be able to deal with this better than constantly dropping everything to "rush" to her oblivious sister's side and to try yet "one more time" to help her. Seriously?. Are we going to keep this around for the whole series and drop it into the story whenever the author feels too lazy to actually create a plot twist? Aha, Agent McLane suddenly goes off on her own, chasing crazy sister (whose symptoms seem to keep adding up with each novel, btw) without telling anybody again, and oopsie steps into the middle of the serial killer plot - wow, what a twist! Golly gee.

Then there is her instantaneous yet steadfast, no matter what she does, new found yet inexplicably devoted to her forever, new lover, who stands by her when what he should be doing is getting her into therapy. If a definition of crazy is doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting a different outcome, Agent McLane qualifies for very long term care. Because after 30 plus years of (not really) dealing with this special bond between twins, FBI woman still thinks SHE can change things, all by herself. One thing I can thank the author for is pointing out that the special bond between twins is - CRAZY glue! This factor overshadowed what started out as a decent enough plot but soon became a showcase for the continuing soap opera that is Agent McLane's life. I wanted a mystery thriller with some romance but what I got was a constant re-hashing of the main character's conflict with her sister. Not good mystery, not good romance, not good at all.

Superb suspense novel!

Quite apart from the graphic sex scenes one expects from authors such as Kendra Elliot, Bridged is a superb suspense thriller and the Mason Callahan and Ava McLane series books are excellent listens. Narration is outstanding.

This novel is about ritualistic serial murders beginning with the brutal slaying of a member of the US Congress. Cop Callahan works with FBI Agent McLane, his now live in girlfriend, to solve the mystery.

Awesome narration.. Wonderful book..

Any additional comments?

I just love Mason and Ava. And this was another terrific read. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The secondary characters, Ray, Zander, Euzent, Troy, Aaron, Carson, Joe and Rick were fascinating, even if some were the bad guys. And I just hate Ava’s sister, Jayne. Good grief, what a freakin’ mess she is. I really wouldn’t mind if she died. I do look forward to Spiraled, which comes out in June. AND for those of you who are concerned about there being sex in these book you can stop worrying. There's NO sex, which is a bummer as far as I'm concerned, but the murder and mayhem helps to make up for it.

As for the narrators: Absolutely, positively, unbelievably, without a doubt, AWESOME!

Good characters

The female voice is a little nasally. If you can get past that the story is good

not as good as the first one

the narrators made this book good. I like Kendra Elliot writing but this one would not have been completed if 8t wasn't for audible. no way would I have read this book all the way through. such a shame because the first one was pretty good.

Book 1 Was Much Better

Amy McFadden's attempt at a low, sultry voice for Ava was laughable. I usually like her narrations, but this one needed some work. Nick Podehl's performance was great, though. The story didn't hold my attention like book one did, but if Elliot releases another book in this series I'm sure I'll give it a shot.

Ugh, still with the twin sister??

Let me start off by saying that I really liked *most* of the book and I have already gotten the next in the series. The problem I’m having is with the twin sister angle.

Ava is supposed to be this smart, savvy FBI agent that has an impeccable record and is well respected by her peers. So how is this smart woman still allowing her sister to have this amount of control over her life?? Especially considering all she has gone through with her as a child and a young adult. I feel like we spent way too much time on the loser, narcissistic sister. It felt unbelievable that an FBI agent would be this gullible and irresponsible. There’s also the matter of her never having her gun on her when she needs it. That’s just weird and unprofessional.

I have nothing but praise regarding the narration. I’m a huge fan of Amy McFadden and love just about everything she does. Nick Podehl was a pleasant surprise. I very much enjoyed his narration.

All in all, I would definitely recommend these books to anyone that likes procedural cop mysteries with a bit of romance, just prepare to want to slap Ava upside the head when it comes to her sister.

Another Amazingly Twisted Story

I am loving the Callahan & McLane characters, along with their roller coaster rides. Both characters are enjoyable and refreshing to me; they may be strong, but neither is perfect. This story takes them on an intense ride no one wants as they hunt a serial killer who keeps upping the ante with each death.

The secondary characters and the twisted plot line combine with Ava and Mason's personalities to make this a great page turning read. If you're new to this series, no problem. This story can easily be read as a standalone. But chances are, you'll want to go back and read the first book anyway!

Vengeance

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this gripping thriller from the Queen of Romantic Suspense.

Mason Callahan rides again with a tale of revenge and obsession. Facing a killer whose just cause got warped and twisted. Whilst coping with a new relationship and the ever present problems with Jane.

Another excellent book by Kendra only enhanced by Amy and Nick's narration.
