Publisher's summary

Now in his 85th year, Hollywood legend Michael Caine shares wisdom and stories from his remarkable career in this "engrossing" memoir that "shines with positive energy" (Library Journal, starred review).

One of our best-loved actors, Michael Caine has starred in over 100 films in his six-decade career, spanning classic movies like Alfie, Zulu, and The Italian Job (the inspiration for the book title) to playing Alfred opposite Christian Bale's Batman in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Dark Knight trilogy. Caine has excelled in every kind of role - with a skill that's made it look easy.

Caine knows what success takes. He's made it to the pinnacle of his profession from humble origins. But as he says, "Small parts can lead to big things. And if you keep doing things right, the stars will align when you least expect it."

Still working and more beloved than ever, Caine now shares everything he's learned - and "his fans will be rewarded, as will anyone seeking an enjoyable, inspirational read" (Library Journal).

Michael Caine. Legend.

This is a great look back and through a life that has been lived to the fullest. it wasn't always easy, is it ever, and Mr Caine allows a look into both the happy and sad times, the trials and tribulations. I'm old enough, 53, to have seen quite a few of the films he mentions but there are so many more I'm going to look up. He made me laugh out loud on occasion and I shed a tear at the end. It's read by the man himself, he's warm and inviting, and a great story teller. I'm a fan and I definitely recommend this book.

I Wish There Were a Sixth Star

I was not expecting one of the best books that I have ever read in the autobiography category, but the real surprise is the constant force of motivation that Mr. Caine induced in himself and now me.

I have the hardcover and reading it, but work on a very special project was taking my time, so Mr. Caine was always in the laboratory with me, in a one way conversation that intrigued and motivated me in the best possible way.

Thank you Mr. Caine, and now I need to get to work and blow the bloody doors off!

Michael Caine's Diary

I have to admit that what I loved most about this story was listening to Michael Caine's Cockney accent. the book is an interesting memoir of both his professional and personal life.

Could be life-changing

This worked fabulously for me on many levels.

First, it got me back into audio books. I tried them years ago, and they were generally horrific. For me nothing will kill wonderful put together words quicker then someone who deosn't know how to read them out loud. So, to have the voice of Alfie or Alfred Pennyworth telling you all this stuff is pretty awesome! As a sidenote, he does not sound like he's 85, it's a marvel to hear!

Secondly, I'm a big movie fan, and have always appreciated Michael Caine's work, so this title was also relevatory in terms of the movie world in general, and his career and work in particular.

And finally, the gems of wisdom he imparts - some familiar, some entirely new - are hugely vaulable, for any young aspiring artist, but even for older people such as myself who may need new ideas or a refresher course on how to sustain yourself through any phase of life.

Yes, you will hear little technical glitches. The odd passage edited together that sounds like parts were recorded on different days, and occasionally you'll miss a word or two due to recording technique, diction or accent. But it's a long book, and it's Michael freakin' Caine, for chrissakes! If you must hear some word or sentence over again, you can always slow it down to 75% and laugh at how drunk he sounds.

But seriosuly, this title succeeds on many levels, and it made my four-hour drive zip by. In fact, I started listening to it even in my hotel room and whenevr I got back in my car, it was that captivating!

LOVE his books!

This is another one of MC's books I have enjoyed. Although not as funny has his first book which had me laughing on the floor but still an honest look at his life and love for his wife and family.
Forgive me for this criticism Michael as normally I would NEVER criticize you - your narration which is superb seemed to "die" down towards the end of some of the sentences. It was a job to turn the volume up and down a lot.
I do hope you get to narrate your first book as I would love to listen to it instead of reading it again.
