She’s tough as nails when defending criminals. Can a simple test destroy her resolve?

Defense lawyer Cass Leary believes wholeheartedly in justice for all. So, when her deadbeat dad suddenly reappears begging for help, she throws her better judgment out the window. But Cass’s family drama takes a back seat when a new client’s desperate search for her birth parents flips from happy to horrifying.

The adoption investigation hits a dead end, so Cass gives her client a simple at-home DNA kit. However, before she can act on the findings, the attorney’s father gets arrested for a scandalous crime. And as Cass finally follows the trail from the ancestry test, she uncovers a gruesome family tree watered with decades of blood.

Can Cass bring to light the shocking truth of two twisted cases?

Another great book

Robin James is an amazing writer. Her stories pull me in and don't let me go until the book is done. I highly recommend all of her books.

I really, really like this legal thrillers author!

I'm happy I found author Robin James. Except I did not find her, Audible listener Shelley did and as usual I benefited from reading all of her reviews. Her reviews have pointed me to dozens of great mystery/thriller/suspense novels and authors during the last decade. I suspect her reviews have helped many of you.

BLOOD EVIDENCE is Book 5 in the Cass Leary legal thriller series. Leary is a small town Michigan based defense attorney who has an interesting/troubled family. In this one she defends her useless drunk dad against a murder charge. This is a standalone, but the character development is so wonderful that it's best to listen to this series in order. Narration by Teri Clark Linden is stellar.

Robin James has a newer series. This one is about a small town Michigan female prosecutor named Mara Brent. The first series novel is titled Time of Justice. The second series legal thriller titled Price of Justice is scheduled for late August 2020 release.

The story is nice but not the narrator

I like the series and this is the first audiobook I listen to of this series (I have read the other in kindle and I have listened to other audiobooks) and I have to say it took me a long time to get used to her voice and I couldn't shake the feeling that I was listening to a robotic voice like in the TikTok videos. If you can get past that, the story is really good and I enjoyed it.

Meh

I like this series but am tired of he loser family. The protagonist is an enabler —- each story she gets worse

Ugh

I hate most of this story line, why she gives into Joe sr. Bugs me, and like it or not she broke down to him. It does track from the book before she fought Liam and say no man would ever make her weak. And yet boom. Family or not.

Too much family drama

I really like this series, but this book had way too much disfunctional family drama that distracted from the story. The 2 hot-headed brothers, one of whom seems to put his fist in a wall every book and the other alcholism of the other, has gotten old. Might need to take a break from the series for a while.

Maybe this story line will go somewhere...

The characters are uninteresting and shallow. There's nothing that makes me want to like any of them. The plot and subplot are so slow moving. I'm only 1/3 of the way into the book, but I'm ready to call it quits. Ugh. Save your credits!

The narrator has a very irritating voice for the males.
