Publisher's summary

There’s only one thing to do when you wake up married to your brand-new boss, whom you hate but can’t resist: You blame the champagne.

I blame the bubbles for my wild night with a masked stranger. Who cares if it's nothing this good girl would normally do - with a man who turns out to be my horrible boss? Who cares that I’m promised to someone else? I blame the alcohol for agreeing to marry him. As long as my new husband keeps his mouth shut, I can survive five years of our little arrangement. It's too late for anything else.

But our impromptu wedding leads to so much more than I bargained for. His dirty promises warm me. His kisses make me lightheaded. His respect slips past my best defenses. The hate turns to friendship and makes me dream of more. He’s like the most dangerous kind of champagne. That’s why I blame him for making me fall in love with him.

But when I find out our marriage was nothing more than revenge, what’s to blame for my broken heart?

The plot didn’t allow for (as much) spice but a good quick read!

I have really loved Ms Cole’s stories and it was pretty much an auto click to purchase the first book in her new series. I liked the story, some points were long winded but I finished it a day with no regrets. I feel like the spice was light on this book compared to her other stories, but because of the animosity between Nico and Vera didn’t allow for much sexy time. However, when it was there it was good. *the balcony scene, oh my* Cant wait for the next story about Nova!!

It's all the Champagne

I’ve been a longtime fan of Fiona Cole and snagged the audio for Blame it on the Champagne. The narration from Vanessa Edwin and Lance Greenfield were just what this story needed. Vanessa does conflicted characters so well and Vera is torn between what she has always been told in life and what she really wants in a marriage. Lance was perfect for Nico’s gruff and dirty talk. This audiobook was fire.

All her life Vera has been told that she will have an arranged marriage like her parents and their parents before her. It is the way, but to trust them to choose wisely. When reality hits, Vera questions everything. In a champagne fueled decision, she decides to take matters into her own hands and finds herself married to her boss. They both win in this situation, but Vera doesn’t know what’s happening behind the scenes. However, as time passes these two realize they’ve fallen for each other which makes things difficult when the truth comes out.

This story is swoony. Plus I absolutely loved these 3 girlfriends. They are funny, sassy, and totally troublemakers but the kind you always want at your back. After I began listening, I was a little concerned about the arranged marriage trope because it’s really not one of my favs, but I love how it was used and how the story changed. Fair warning everyone, this is a bit of a slow burn. Fiona totally teases you with a HOT, and I mean HOT, spicy scene at the beginning and then the story takes a turn and tension builds and builds. By the time things settle down, things are at a boiling point and it’s HOT. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and already one-clicked the audio for the other two books in the series!

Amazing book

I absolutely love Fiona Cole audiobook series. The voyeur books were amazing and the blame it on the alcohol series are starting to take me away as well. The narrator rock to!

A Fun Read

This was a fun-for-me read! The narration of the audiobook was great, the characters were interesting and I loved the girl-gang support. The story itself was pretty predictable, but I didn't even mind. I can't wait to see these two again in the rest of the series, but am especially excited to read the books for Raelynn and Nova.

The male didn't win me over in the end

I was disappointed in the redemption for the male hero. Except in the very end, he still acted entitled and justified instead of truely remorseful. Saying he didn't mean or want to hurt her, while he was doing something he knew would hurt her is BS .
Vanessa Edwin was amazing as usual. The male narrator had a nice voice, but my God he talked so slow I had to increase the speed for his chapters. it was so annoying.

With So Many Alcohols This Series Is Endless

Like the Voices, liked the premise of the conflict but the conflict was predictable. I enjoyed the story, romance was great, sex was a little s/m but it is ok. I think the relationship with her friends is/ was key. I enjoyed the book it was a good summer beach listen. The key was Lance, he makes me swoon.

An arranged marriage and reluctant daughter…

Cute story…shipping magnate’s daughter is expected to marry the much older man chosen by her father….but she isn’t an airhead and plans to make her way. Of course she starts working for the competition! Too much champagne and Verrona ends up married to her boss. What happens when she learns that both her father and her new husband each has it in for the other? Girlfriends, alcohol and angst…never a good mix. Quick beach read.

The things alcohol can do

Vera, Raelyn, and Nova are friendship goals l love their friendship and I can’t wait to get to Nova’s and Rae’s stories. Vera and Nicholas had mad chemistry just from a glance across the room. I am so glad Vera finally got away from that no good father who and stood up for herself and what’s she wants out of life.

I LOVED it!

This was my first Fiona Cole's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Blame it on the Alcohol Series. I LOVED it! Nico and Vera’s story is sweet, steamy, funny, and heartwarming. Nico is a complex character, handsome, sexy, and dominant, but revengeful. Vera is lovely, smart, and strong. They share a sizzling hot chemistry. The supporting characters are amazing. I loved Vera's friends, and Nico's grandfather. Vanessa Edwin and Lance Greenfield did a fantastic job with the narration. They are perfect as Nico and Vera! This is a great arranged marriage/office romance, and I highly recommend it. Now, I can't wait for Nova and Parker's story in Blame it on the Tequila, the next book in the Series!

I HAVE BEEN HIT WITH THE FEELS ALL OVER AGAIN!!!

Holy hotness! This is one dirty talking man! Nico had all the hot words! And Vera gets in some of her own! This is a fantastic story of a woman who takes the arranged marriage stuff into her own hands! I read this book when it first came out.... so I was so excited to revisit Nico and Vera! I had so much love for them before.... AND I HAVE EVEN MORE LOVE FOR THEM NOW!!! Vanessa Edwin was THE PERFECT Vera!!! And Lance Greenfield nailed the arrogant mannerisms and sexy growl of Nico! These 2 had me feeling all the feels even more than I did the first time I read the book! It was FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!! I will absolutely be doing a re-listen anytime I miss Vera and Nico!
