Publisher's Summary

You're not going home. You're not going anywhere. You're mine now.

Growing up in a deeply troubled family, 15-year-old Anna felt lost and alone in the world. So when a friendly taxi driver befriended her, Anna welcomed the attention, and agreed to go home with him to meet his family. She wouldn't escape for over a decade.

Held captive by a sadistic pedophile, Anna was subjected to despicable levels of sexual abuse and torture. The unrelenting violence and degradation resulted in numerous miscarriages, and the birth of four babies.... each one stolen away from Anna at birth.

Her salvation arrived 13 years too late, but despite her shattered mind and body, Anna finally managed to flee. This is her harrowing, yet uplifting, true story of survival.

Contains mature themes.

Why wouldn't you?

the story keeps your attention the fact that this is based on a true story and she never went to the police when she was free is the reason I've gave it a four-star because that's the least she could have done so that other girls did not fall in the hands of this monster.

well written

It was a well written book. I know this happens more than we hear about. This book was sometimes hard to read, just unbelievable that she was so stong throughout her whole ordeal.

So unrealistic

I have read a lot of true stories. This one seems so far-fetched I have a very hard time believing most of it. There were way too many inconsistencies and questions left, and not one person to corroborate anything at all. (The one social worker who saved her was fired and is not allowed to speak with her, even at her new job?)
The writer seems to fixate so much on graphic rape and violence to the point of monotony. This is why I'm a little perplexed as too why I have seen so many five star reviews of this book!

Left me speechless

Faye Adele does an amazing job narrating this book. The story literally left me speechless. I cannot begin to imagine what this lady had gone through, what it was like, or how it continues to haunt her. As well as other women/children who share story. I pray for all of them.

wow!

this book is unbelievable! From the very beginning you can't stop listening! It's sad and amazing that there are people in the world that would do this to another human being without concern. It's also heartbreaking that all of the people that she is come across in her life, none of them thought to help her. Medical staff, police, excetera

Horrific but wonderful story of strength

This is by far the most horrific case of abuse I’ve ever heard. I commend the author for having the courage to put it into the world. Brace yourself.

Excellent book

I really enjoyed this book. I am so sorry for the author and what she was made to endure. There were points in the book where I needed to take a break because it made me sick. It is horrific what people do to other innocent people. The book was well written and I am glad that the book could be therapeutic for the author. May she be blessed beyond measure.

Lost for words

This account is simply awe inspiring! I cannot believe that these terrible events weren’t stopped on the number of occasions that professionals became involved!
Far more questions should have been asked m!
I hope that we can learn a number of valuable lessons.
Well done for telling your side - the truth! What a huge amount of strength you have!

Waste of time

It was a waste of my time and money
The woman had so many opportunities to escape, ask for help doctors, police but never used those opportunities. Knowing that these people were not a kind human beings she still decided to leave her kids to their mercy. The main character is a very strange woman and I feel sorry for other girls taken slaves but who never had an opportunity to escape....

Fantastic read, my heart goes out to Anna Ruston.

My heart ached listening to this ladies horrible "life" how she trudged on just biding her time to set out her escape, Many men or women would have given up with life after experiencing all of this but thank you Anna for giving us an insight as to what you want through :( but I'm so happy she has now found her love, who she always kept that place in her heart for him 😘

Very sad but interesting story.

Well read and written!!
Enjoyed the book, although that seems the wrong description under the circumstances of poor Anna's ordeal
.A very strong and brave lady.Although I think that her age was refered to wrongky a couple of times in chapter 26. When Sally was going to the market, Anna refers to herself as a Twenty year old woman which of course she couldn't have been if she was 15 when she was taken and escapedv13 years later. And I think there was another reference in the same chapter.
Not that this affects the impact of the story in any way, just thought I would mention it in case the editor was not aware of the mistake.
