Inspiring

Inspiring story, though difficult to get interested in the beginning.
Gives hope that we all can leave behind hope and healing to others.
Narrated so beautifully by Tavia.

I recommend this story to anyone interested in women’s history, medicine, or just an all-around excellent story

Her Persevered

A beautifully told story of a woman’s life, her hardships and her victories. Throughout you are reminded that there is goodness and love in the world.

Great Book

The voice of the narrator seemed to match the main character well and the narrator did a good job transitioning to other characters. This is what I anticipated life being like on the trail at this time and seemed like this could have been a real story.

What a sad story

The author brings to life a story of a women who has and will go through so much, She does find love but so many people are against it. This has one of the saddest endings I have ever listened to, It is a true story and they almost never has a happy ending but the ending is sad but happy as well. It is a story that will touch your heart and make you want to cry. Tuff times along with children who aren't always the best, so much going on, what do you do when your husband divorces you in those times. It didn't say a lot for the women back then but you grin and bare it, make the best you can. I enjoyed it but was ready to cry at the end of it.

The narrator did a great job pulling the listener in, love her character voices, you always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. Her normal voice is lovely, it is a voice you don't get tired of listening to. There are no volume changes, no repeating of words and no background noises. It was truly a delightful listen that was very clear and enjoyable.

All she left behind

This story is depressing all the way through. Not up to her other works. Not inspiring.

A GREAT AUDIOBOOK

This is a very well-told story of a brave woman who dedicated herself to her family, married and was divorced by an alcoholic man who led their young son into his footsteps. She bravely goes on and marries a wonderful man, has two daughters with him and then he encourages her to seek her lifelong dream.
Any more would be a spoiler BUT I’m going to listen to it again!

Superb, high standards love story

I liked everything about this story and disliked nothing. Her writings are few and far between in a sea of disappointments with no character!

Different from most Jane Kirkpatrick books that I have read.

I was not a huge fan of the narrator, nor the story, though it touched my heart. It just wanted normally what I read from Jane Kirkpatrick.

It was interesting but depressing

I was frustrated with the main character for the first half of the book. Overall, the book was pretty depressing, though, it was a lot like real life. I would not put myself through the listen again. There were some interesting historical facts in the book about women in medicine.
