Beautiful story, tastefully written

I loved both the book and Ms Brook’s performance. The details are plentiful and authentic, and I love to hear how much and, more precisely, how little has changed in the time since the end of the Second World War. What a treat. I unknowingly listened to the sequel first so it was a thrill to find this ‘prequel’. Thank you ladies. It gave me mor insight into my mother’s world as a 21 year old, marring a doctor in 1946.

Interesting concept Terribly Read.

Did not enjoy as the person that read the story could not do an accent had. No feeling in her words and just left me frustrated 😞 and as flat as her voice... I love time travel stories. But I did not like this, as it only got interesting in the epilogue... So do not bother save your credit .. 🚽

Good idea but something missing

I like the innocence in this novel, and was a bit disappointed because it became a bit of a chick novel dressed up as a mystery. It’s a bit like some of those Diana gaBoldon Jamie Fraser novels, really sexual fantasies for middle-aged women.and over romanticised having said that the basic semblance of the story was good, it may be the first novel, there was a bit too many red herrings and pathways in the novel that would really relevant to the story i.e. the flick knife, the going to the pictures, a lot of those things that is to say Parts didn’t really contribute to the total story. And it would’ve been good to know bit more about Johnnys experience in the novel.
