Publisher's Summary

“Cross one, cross all.” That’s the Brayshaw way.

She should have realized this before sliding into our world with secrets too big to bury. She didn’t, and now the target is on her back.

The day her lies came crashing down, I should have forced her out. Instead, I locked her in, and with the promise I would never be hers.

I resisted, fought against us. I caved. I tasted what became my newfound favorite flavor and fell hard for the little liar.

But then the depth of her treachery reveals itself, and with it a reminder.

Our town is a twisted place, and with truth comes trouble.

In the blink of an eye, my world is split at its core, and I’m faced with an impossible decision, one that leads to a single outcome: betrayal.

This is Captain Brayshaw's book and the fourth book in the Brayshaw series.

I love Victoria and raven!

So I love Victoria’s story... she went through so much and is so good and strong. I love these characters but gah Cap just does nothing to deserve her! Spoiler...

Victoria has real trauma and he never acknowledges it! Like wtf he he’s she’s in a weird sexual position and doesn’t help her! I don’t get it and he just does nothing to redeem himself. Victoria is perfect and takes care of everyone and deserves someone who would do anything for her and that’s just not him. I hope in future books it shows the girls getting everything they want.

Not What I Expected

I loved the first three books in this series and was extremely excited to start devouring this one...only it was nothing like I thought it would be. Captain was a favorite character for me in the other books and I felt like the author portrayed him as a completely different person in this story - and not in a good way. I could barely tolerate him. And although I came to better like Victoria in this book (she has a pure heart and has persevered through so much), she too was not what I expected...coming on too strong in parts, but mainly being conveyed as weak and a push-over. Her weakness was at its worse the first half to 60% of the book. The storyline was unbearable at times and I almost didn’t finish. And I know everyone has a different definition of cheating, but I would constitute Captain’s actions as cheating...be forewarned if this is a trigger for you. I was so disturbed with all that had happened that by the time Captain got his act together, I couldn’t even enjoy the end of the book (partly because he didn’t deserve his happily ever after imo). Victoria also has a devastatingly traumatic past including emotional abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse. This was hardly even discussed - just brushed under the rug. So disappointing. The narration was just ok - I liked the narrators voices but thought they were too mature for the characters they represented. The male narrator also repeatedly mispronounced Maddoc’s name and didn’t change his voice at all from one character to another - not even to portray a female or a child. At the end of the day, I read this book to get to the next one in the series without being completely lost because I do intend to continue the series based on the content from the first three books. This is the only Meagan Brandy book I haven’t fallen in love with.

Pretty Boring 😴

First of all the male narrator pronounces things wrong or not how the other narrators have in the past which is a pet peeve of mine.

Second I am just not into this storyline and the characters personalities. Captain is too abrasive in this book which I didnt really get from the first 3 books. Victoria comes off as too passive for me.

The story is meh and pretty boring. I never look forward to reading it and wish I was done already. I might have to return this one!

Not what I expected: SPOILERS

Let me start off by saying that I enjoyed the first 3 books. The series began to lose me in the middle of book 2 but quickly pulled me back in. Now this book however I was disappointed I must say. First, the narration of Captain I didn't like. In the other books his voice was not as deep. They make him sound growling which fit Maddox more than Cap. Also, in all of the other books Captain was the more sensitive, level headed one. Yes, still dominating and alpha, but not a complete a**. In this book his character was just cruel and a complete jerk. He was just plain ugly to her which was nothing like him. And the steamy scenes were great until the very end with Mallory. That was just weird. I was also disappointed the way they made Victoria's character all weak and submissive all the while saying she was this strong survivor. Raven was strong but never lost herself for Maddox. Victoria was willing to let Cap do whatever he wanted and say whatever he wanted and she just took it so she could have whatever scraps he threw her way. I get what the story was trying to say but laid it out all wrong. It made Victoria seem like a weak woman who would do anything for a man even letting him belittle and abuse her and all he had to do was say sorry and everything was forgiven. I wish the female lead was portrayed stronger that way she fit, being a strong queen for her king.

Turns of events

WOW!! What a turn of events. Vic and her sister RayRay are so bad " B's". The fact that they saved these boys or men make them special in my books.

❤️Refreshing heartfelt romance❤️

It's so nice to be able to listen to the first three books with one couple and going straight into a different couple that's actually flawlessly written. Normally I refrain from these type of series that switch from one couple to another, but not this time. The timeline flows right from the first three books right into the fourth book leading into the fabulous romance of the second brother, Captain. This book tugged strongly at my bleeding heart strings. Meagan Brandy has a writing style that's unsurpassed by any other I've come across. the small touching moments mean something. She's able to take something insignificant from previous chapters and twist it into something more. I strongly recommend this book series and all of her other books she's written. I'm definitely a #BrayGirl and definitely a huge fan of Meagan Brandy! I'm addicted to all of the Bray Boys❤️❤️🔥

Hello Captain

Those were the words that came out of my mouth the second it started. If I could have imagined Captains voice when reading the books it would have been this. The narrators were both perfect
I loved that this story was able to come to life so well.

Don’t waste your credit....get ready for the rant!

I wasn’t a massive fan of books 1-3 but they weren’t terrible either, and after what happened in book 3 I was abit excited that this book was about Captain as he was such a nice guy and deserved it. In this book When I say he’s a massive d**k I mean he’s a massive d**k. I honestly don’t know that the author was thinking with this one and I was so disappointed. Too many unanswered questions, too many plot holes, too many characters that were not explained correctly. These are supposed to be 18 year olds for crying out loud! With the amount of parent swapping, child abuse, teenage pregnancies, murders, rape, self sabotage, bullying, abductions, violence and lies I’ve read in this book I think even I need therapy never mind her characters. With every awful thing that happens they are literally like “mehh” shrugging their shoulders. DINT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON CHAPTER 35🤬🤯🤮 This book could have been so much more than it was and I am bitterly disappointed.

Eskimo Kisses and Butterfly Hugs!

It took me a while to get into this book... and wasn’t too sure whether I liked it at one point in the storyline, especially when Captain had a 180 degree personality change and was a total a$$ to Victoria, but fortunately he managed to redeem himself towards the end of the book.

“I’m the wave, he’s the anchor and this life is our ocean” ~ Victoria

Victoria was such an amazing character. She was strong and resilient, and took everything Captain threw at her and more!! ... and when he was at his worst, she managed to hold her head up high and refused to give in and walk away. Her unwavering love for Captain and his daughter Zoe, and her loyalty towards the Brayshaw family made her the a true hero in my books.

The other Brayshaws played an integral part in this book too, always ensuring their women are kept safe and happy, which isn’t always an easy task. I absolutely loved the way the guys interacted with Zoe and bent over backwards to make sure she was happy, and Zoe or ZoZo as they boys loved to call her, was an absolute gem. I totally loved her little personality. She was cuteness overload and had all the Brayshaw men wrapped around her tiny little fingers. I also loved that Raven was pregnant in this book and we got to experienced all the craziness and emotions associated with that. I’m so looking forward to her seeing what she has in the next book.

The story is beautiful written and narrated, with dual POV’s and loads of twists and turns to keep you guessing, and even though it got a bit confusing at times, all the pieces fell beautifully together and made total sense in the end.

I’m soooo looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Bring on Ponyboy Royce’s story!
