Love even more than the book

I don’t even know how it is that this last wave of audiobooks by Jade West has made me an even bigger fan, but they have. Even though I have read all of the books, the audio upgrade was cheap so I went ahead with it and I am so very glad I did. The audios are amazing. Although the storylines are unconventional and not for the average reader, I’m not the average reader, so we are a match made in heaven.

The narration is perfect. I believe these are new narrators to me since I don’t listen to many audios with British accents, but I loved them so much. Perfect for the characters. I was easily lost to their voices.

Dark and steamy

I had heard some rumblings about this book, so thought I would give it a listen. If you like dark romance, you will enjoy the story of Abigail and Leo. Each of these characters has a dark back story. Leo's stems from a crazy girlfriend who ended up dying in a fire, leaving him with his distraught brother who calls himself Ash, and a delightful son, Cam. We get to see in depth the ramifications of the relationships and where it is taking Leo. Abigail is trying to rebuild her life after a bad relationship and unforeseen circumstances. These two meet online and make a date for Leo to hunt Abigail. And their connection begins from there. The scenes are hauntingly erotic, the chases are dark, masochistic and full of pent up aggression and passion. I loved learning about Leo and thought Evan Garrett portrayed his character exactly as expected. His voice for Leo is rough and slightly raspy, and holds all the angst, frustration and emotion that Leo has. Abigail is a little harder for me to understand, her story is not as fully developed and I had some difficulty relating to her motivation for this type of relationship. There is definitely more to her than is said. Posey Clifford voices Abigail and for this type of role, I found her not to fit the darkness that Abigail felt. Being my first Jade West listen, I will definitely look for more when I am in the mood for a dark romance.

Conflicted

This story has ups and downs it's hard for me to give a solid review.I know these things..I liked the storyline, the female narrator was like nails on a chalkboard for me , I almost gave up on the book...However there are parts of this book that are so heartbreakingly beautiful it's worth the screech.

The only thing wrong was the girls voice it was annoying other then that it was a great story

Better than what I expected!

I knew the story was risqué to start with. It started more startling than I expected. As the story developed I became invested and overall very satisfied with the entire story and performance as well.

Intense

The storyline of this book was intense in more ways than one. The ending was intense but was still a HEA. Kept me listening to see what would happen. I liked the male narration, Evan did a good job; Posey was ok.

I really enjoyed this book. I'd classify it more as ërotică than romance, spice is definitely the main story line, but I liked the storyline as well, more than I expected to. Abigail is a broken woman looking to fulfil a dark hole in her soul, she wants to be caught and taken against her will. Phoenix is a broken man who's played this game before with grave consequences, and tries to save her the only way he knows how. Together they learn to love each other and themselves in the process.

I loved the suspense, mystery twist this story brought. I didn't read the blurb (and still haven't), but from what I've read of Jade this was unexpected, but very welcome. It just added an extra oomf to an already dark story. The spice was top notch, I absolutely loved this aspect. These two were filthy and I loved every moment.

I read it via audible and really loved the voice actors. The woman was especially fantastic and I'll be looking forward to hearing more of her and Jade's work.

This was so much more than I expected! The characters and their journey were brilliantly crafted. I could not stop listening!

Better than I thought it would be

When I first started this book I honestly didn’t think I would get very far into it before adding it to my DNF pile. It starts off very aggressive. Abigail seemed like a reckless and desperate crazy person, quite honestly, and I was immediately turned off.

However, I am glad I pushed through all the awkward inner monologue and allowed myself to get into the story because, wow. This book did not disappoint. I wasn’t expecting it to be so emotionally draining and to truly feel such pain and grief from the MCs. There were some pretty shocking twists that I definitely did not see coming and my mind was b.l.o.w.n 🤯

Not only was the plot and the characters so much more than I had hoped for but the spice was definitely there too. Was it a little over the top with the description of Leo’s 😈🍆? Ok,maybe… but I mean come on, it adds to the fun! Ohh and did I mention the piercings? 😏🫨

Overall the book turned out to be way better than I initially thought it would be but not as good as I had hoped. The parts I wanted to be OTT and dramatic just were not enough. I appreciated the emotional parts and the family drama but I could have done with some more…. Thrill in the chase, if you will.
