Summary

Battling the Crooked has been Koda’s task ever since he answered the call of his ancestor’s goddess. Battling the twisted creatures was one of the very first things he did upon arriving in this world, and for it he has earned the thanks of his goddess, respect of a tribe to call his own, and the loving devotion of his mates.

Up until recently, it had only been raiding groups that he had confronted, led by champions and commanders that he could potentially surmount.

Now, though, Koda is faced with a whole new challenge: an army of Crooked many times larger than any he’s seen yet. And while there are others in this battle—an army sent by the baron who holds sway over Silverstone Village, his home—they may not be as helpful as he might hope.

The one group he trusts with the baron’s forces, a company of dwarves led by a champion aligned with Chandra Wildheart—the goddess of the dwarves and a sister in all but blood to his own goddess—has warned Koda to be careful with who he trusts.

With more enemies coming up from the south, and people who are only vaguely allies to the north, Koda needs to find ways to level the playing field. The beastfolk live in these plains, and they need to protect their land.

From all comers.

I really enjoyed the story line with the world building and characters. I can't wait for the next book.

I really enjoyed the story and I can't wait for the next book

Awsome book always leaves me wanting more. Although that cliff hanger is just mean. Can't wait for the next book.

Another great book in the series.

I don't agree with some other reviews that this book is filler, but I do understand where they are coming from. this book felt like the story was shifting focus onto the larger events going on in the world, and some exposition was needed to set the stage. the book is slower, less frantic than some of the others, and I think thats ok. you can't always be running in a sprint.

Taking a Breath.

While I like this author, this is my least favorite series of his and it only falls further behind with each book. This will be the end of the series for me. The story progression seems almost nonexistent and every book seems to have the same circular debates as the last. You could skip 1/3 of the chapters and not miss anything vital to the story.

Same as previous 5.

i marked the performance down because there's two different spots where someone ends a sentence and then repeats that sentence before continuing on. For a moment I thought we were going to have an Orgy after that blessing in the cold water. I enjoy the new and old fighting battle tricks that are used against the crooked. Of course a noble would be leading with no regard to anyone who follows him into battle willingly or otherwise. I will admit I'm getting a little annoyed with your awesome cliffhangers too.

Crooked large scale battles and teasing of Dwarven allies
