Ling Qi's time in the Argent Peak Sect has come to an end. She is the Baroness Ling, retainer to the heiress of the Emerald Seas, and her duty is to oversee and mediate the Summit, which she and Cai Renxiang have struggled to make take place. On it rides the chance to weave a fragile peace with the strange people who live beyond the high southern mountains and the tribesmen of the Cloud who align with them. War is already at the Empire's doorstep; this will be their chance to limit the number of foes they must face. It is an unpopular thing, though, to treat with the foreign, to negotiate as equals. Many eyes watch, seeking the failure of the heiress and the ideas that Ling Qi represents.

Inspired by ancient folklore, modern martial arts, and Xianxia, Destiny Cycle cultivates a world both fantastic in setting yet familiar in the humanity of its inhabitants. Don't miss this ninth installment of one of the most popular titles on Royal Roads, elegantly performed by Earphones Award-winning voice artist Natalie Naudus.

I love that she is still growing into who she is and finding her place. I also love the big fight, the build up was satisfying and when we got there it gave. I am looking forward to the next book.

Less action but the story deepens

It's nice when a plan comes together while under threat, good to see this part of the story tied up. Now I'm curious where the next book will lead.

The bent towards more politics in setting up the summit may be a turn off for others. And even I struggled with it during the middle. However, the Voice actor remains great, there are still fun character moments between Ling Qi and her friends, we have Ling Qi is embracing her wider role as a political figure because of her cultivation talent, and we have her getting into a very interesting use of a new cultivation art relevant around chapters 40 through 46 that is very entertaining.

Overall, some parts were slow and I lost attention, but I mostly enjoyed it. Admittedly, the story is slower than previous installments and some will find that hard to stomach so be aware that this isn't an action heavy entry in the series.

More politics, may be slower for some

Very disappointed, this was so hard to get through, yet another boring book with hardly any progress . 9 books and only the first 5 are actually interesting. Story needs to increase its pace ! Why waste yet another book with trivial world building and talks . Honestly I eat my credit back . That’s how bad it was .

This story is dragging

I got the last few books in this series expecting the momentum to pick back up. It hasn't. It's a phenomenal universe and an intriguing magic system and all this diplomacy may be necessary but there's no reason for me to continue buying each book until the plot picks back up.
