With cities ruled by cultivators who wield qi to warp reality itself, and a vast wilderness teeming with deadly spirit beasts, mortals often find the first floor of the World Spire to be as punishing as it is extraordinary.

That's why, when Samantha unexpectedly receives a quest to become a cultivator herself from the mysterious System, she seizes the opportunity.

But she soon discovers that in the fearsome and unfamiliar landscape of cultivators, a single misstep could have dire consequences for both herself and her spirit bond, Silas, a Lunar Hare. With the safety of her loved ones on the line, and her options narrowing, Samantha must either commit to mastering their dangerous games or braving the deadly upper floors of the tower, from where no one has ever been heard from again...

She always knew that joining the ranks of cultivators would be a grueling ordeal, but she never would have guessed that leaving her mortality behind would be the easy part.

Great story. Liked how author avoided monotony with multiple storyline evolutions. Liked how the world building grew and was revealed over time without being predictable can’t wait fit next book (soon I hope)

Well balanced

I loved this book and am very excited about book two.
my only complaints are:

1. the odd times when the MCs urgency is all wacky. most of the time the book drew me in and I felt the urgency. other times, the town will be getting destroyed and the MC wants to joke around with her friends.

2. I'm a little fed up with the accelerated mind bit being used as an excuse for monologing...haha

great job over all. I loved the length and how well it was paced. several clear arcs that were all interesting.
again, very excited for book 2!

one of my new favorites...but

I thoroughly enjoyed following the plucky main character, Samantha, as she navigates her way through life as a newly minted cultivator on the first floor of the Spire. Well written and well narrated. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!

Quick tip: Character stat tables are cleverly added as a separate chapters in the audiobook. If you’re not a numbers person, you can skip them and get back to the action.

Engaging story with action, intrigue, humor, and heart!

When a Bunny met a cultivator here's what this story is about for the first part. But then it goes on to more politics, healthy cultivation. It's interesting, but at the same time it takes a long to get to where it's changed. But at the same time, you do so I just get to like it. The one thing I would say is, well, she's sticking to thee. The practice of things having a chapter be crunchy, she needs to let people know that they can skip it. If they want to just listen to the story, that's other story. To those who use the same sort of thing as she does, this is hmm, it's something that could be very interesting. It'll be interesting to see, if the author will continue with this series

This book was an undeniable gem. The writing, pacing, and world building were all very well done. I really enjoyed how was just the right amount of twists and turns while also having some sprinkles of predictability. I will be continuing on and recommend this story for anyone who is a fan of cultivation novels. My only note would be that our mc hits all the right breaks but that blow is softened because of the hard work and struggles she has to read off for those breaks. Please pick this book up

Thoroughly wonderful
