As the Oxford Detective Society tackle their first case, someone is determined that a long-buried mystery should stay hidden…

Oxford biographer Lyssa Moore is delighted to be commissioned to write about Amelia ‘Monty’ Montrose, the 1960s music icon who died mysteriously at her birthday party in 1966. But as Lyssa delves into Monty’s past, she discovers the wild child portrayed by the press was hiding far more than anyone knew.

And someone is taking a very keen interest in Lyssa’s research. Her flat has been broken into, her phone is acting strangely, and she has a feeling she is being followed. Is Lyssa getting too close to a dangerous truth—was there more to Monty’s death than a tragic accident?

With the help of her cat Bibbie and her Oxford friends, who form the Oxford Detective Society, Lyssa must uncover what really happened sixty years ago. Because in Oxfordshire’s country houses and picture-perfect gardens, the past refuses to stay buried…

From multimillion-copy bestseller Faith Martin comes the start of a brand-new, incredibly gripping murder mystery series, perfect for fans of LJ Ross, Emylia Hall and Rachel McLean.

Critic reviews

“Kristin Atherton sounds like a full cast in this clever whodunit.… Atherton is masterful delivering a wide range of voices and accents, keeping the large cast of possible suspects easily identifiable. Atherton’s deft performance speedily moves this mystery along toward its intense conclusion.” —Kirkus Audiobook Reviews

Plot gets going slowly. Took nearly half of book to lay the foundational material and introduce all the characters.
But when over next book could start faster.

As usual a solid performance and engaging storyteller.

Nice mystery. A little predictable. The narrator was ok. Didn't do a great job of maintaining the character voices and misread the book in several places but overall an easy, fun listen.

Entertaining

Great prose and a very good yarn! I see this is the first of a new series by Faith Martin and I will read the others most certainly. The audio was done so very well.

Well written, and a very well read and well- acted audio book.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery! The characters were easy to like, the Oxford setting was charming, and the mystery kept me guessing until the end. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life and made it easy to stay engaged. If you enjoy character-driven mysteries without graphic content, I definitely recommend this one. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series and can’t wait to read more by Faith Martin!

This series has potential, I liked the characters. I felt like it moved slowly in parts, so i quit reading it for awhile and came back to enjoy the finish. I will try book two.
