Death, paradise, and the gods themselves—all rejected for the sake of love.

When King James Kronenscheld dies at the hands of the Demon King, he thinks his suffering is finally over and that he can join his Edwin in paradise. And, hey, at least he'd taken the Demon King with him, right?

But then the gods try to send James to paradise without his Edwin, and that is simply unfathomable. So he does the unthinkable—he turns it down and negotiates for one more chance to fix his mistakes.

Armed with memories and regrets, James regresses to before he was crowned. He is determined to woo the man he lost, even if it means facing down all his previous failures. For Edwin alone will James face wraths and plagues, court politics, and demon kings. He will avoid the horrors of the crown and attain paradise for them both.

Failing this time means losing Edwin forever. And that is not an option.

The story was amazing. It was hard to stop listening. There were no slow moments in the story.

The narrator was awesome.

I usually love her works and did enjoy this book for the most part the narrator did an excellent job and the overall story was good I just had one problem the princess is engaged to a man who I think the author was going for stupid and spoiled to the point of incompetence but he just comes across as severely autistic so having everybody keep referring to him as stupid and treating him like a bad guy kept taking me out of the story and making me angry at the good guys which is so frustrating I know what she was trying to do but it just made that whole part of the book hard to read

killed the mood

Oh Wow. if you’re looking for an epic fantasy love story that brings all the feels, this is it. James and Edwin’s story has so many twists and turns that you will have to take a breath just to catch your breath.

The narration is perfect with each of the characters having their own unique tones and it builds the story higher.

this won't be a super long review but just wanted to say U really enjoyed this book. I kinda didn't know what to expect given "regress" to me didn't automatically have the go-back-in-time connotation. but once I saw the actual blurb and was interested enough to give it a go, I really enjoyed it. The plot grabs you pretty much already on page one, so there isn't a slow lead in like you get with some fantasy

the book is on the longer side but it's because a decent amount of things happen over the course of the plot. time is spent in the right areas but it still has good momentum and pace. the fantasy world building isn't super complex (gods exist and there is magic), but it kind of leaves it at that and the rest of the story is the character development and the plot

solid 10 out of 10. warm fuzzy ending, feels well deserved

very satisfying read. solid plot, real stakes
