how the main character finally was cornered

Wasn't a fan of the sacrifice of innocent people otherwise it was another compelling story.

The stakes were raised, mistakes were made and the MC is in a tough spot.

Just when you think things are looking up, this story puts a wrench into the whole process. Problems could have been avoided if Iskander just acted and spoke up and explained things but as someone who has been in high pressure situations it makes sense. The ending is very bittersweet but not off-putting, so I'll keep on this wild ride.

Not telling the truth at the end

with everything that happened, the fact that the people gave their lives willingly is more than a little essential, and not to his supporters, his sister or anyone that matters did he even try to tell the truth, most likely to make things more complicated in book four, still the stupidity of his total lack of defense is too dumb...and it matters too much to people he claims to care about to not say anything to them...not even when things have calmed down and Emilia can be comforted with the truth does he bother to tell her making him an adshole to boot...end of the book was just dragged out and annoying

Why is the MC still being shown as naive?

I just wanna say this series has been on and off with this book I can say I won’t be picking up the next one because the Mc has two sets of memories from people that should have seen some things and learned hard lessons like maybe negotiating with cultist doesn’t work but that’s just one specific incongruity stuff like that keeps happening and ruins the immersion just seems like a weak way to pull the plot forward
