Pushing him to the edge of no return has become my mission in life.

Carson St. James

I detest my new teammate. The cocky, infuriating, obnoxious Australian rugby star, Colin Kearney, gets under my skin in every way imaginable. No wonder he got kicked out of his league. From the moment we met, he's occupied all my attention, so much so that we give in to one night to f*ck it out. When he kisses me on the nose at training camp, after I rake him over the coals, it sets off a chain reaction in me I can't come back from. And I don't know if I want to find my way back.

Colin Kearney

Okay. I might enjoy driving my uptight team captain crazy a little too much. But it's the most fun I've had since being kicked out of the NRL. He thinks I'm drongo, but I'm not stupid. I know exactly what I'm doing, and I'm not gonna stop until I get him under me. Or over me. And I don't mean on the field.

When I convince him to give me one night, neither of will ever be the same. There are things he doesn't know about my life, and I'm afraid when he finds out, he'll leave me like everyone else has.

This was another stellar book in the series. All the books are original in their storylines, yet build upon the found family vibe Emerson Beckett does so well. Loved the two MCs, and how they went from strangers to teammates/housemates w extreme chemistry, to enemies of sorts, to lovers. The enemies part was not overdone, and the underlying attraction still shone through at that time. Perfect amount of existential angst that the MCs faced as a duo, which only strengthens their relationship. Also, as always with her books, we get plenty of story after the relationship is formed. No rushed HEA.

I LOVE Michael Dean- he can practically do no wrong in my eyes- but I’m not sure the Aussie accent is his best. At times it devolved into a Bostonish voice or just kind of lost its flow. Regardless, the performance overall was great, and the accent didn’t detract from the book.

Loved it

This was a sweet, low angst book. It features sports/teammates (football), hurt/comfort, forced proximity/roommates, humor (I snort laughed more than once), friendship, pets and found family. I adored Carson's caring and support for Colin. This story was really well done and so very enjoyable. Looking forward to Mason's story next!!

Second reading via audiobook and wow does Michael Dean do a fantastic job with this. It brought the story even more to life. Also the story stands up to multiple readings - I still love it!

Emerson has once again delivered an outstanding story that blends sports, romance, and witty banter seamlessly. Personal Foul is Colin and Carson’s story. Colin, a former rugby player turned NFL star, and Carson, a man who never saw the whirlwind of chaos and attraction coming his way.
Colin is my favorite character in this series so far. With his Aussie charm and undeniable charisma, he was the highlight of the story.
Carson, on the other hand, is the perfect opposite. Their dynamic is explosive, both hilariously awkward and incredibly hot. The chemistry between these two characters leaps off the page, and their banter had me laughing out loud the entire book! Watching Carson try to adjust to Colin’s unanticipated presence in his life is as entertaining as it is heartwarming, and the tension between them keeps you wanting to keep turning the pages.
Oh, and Michael Dean’s narration is a perfect match for the characters. His portrayal of Colin, especially with the Australian accent, was awesome! He captured Colin’s charm and wit effortlessly, and his voice gives Carson an equally compelling presence. The pairing of Dean’s narration with Emerson’s writing creates an immersive experience that elevates the story to a whole new level.
The chemistry between Colin and Carson was electrifying, the humor is spot on, and the narration enhances the overall experience. Emerson and Dean are a winning combination.

Emerson ans Michael hit this one out of the park!!
