He’s my father’s best friend. My protector. My forbidden obsession.
For as long as I can remember, Kittredge Evers has been my anchor—the powerful CEO who never let me down, the man who called me Magpie and filled my childhood with treasures. My father's best friend. But when one drunken confession shattered our careful boundaries, I learned how dangerous it was to want him.
Ten years later, I’m grown. I’m no longer the sweet kid he swore to protect—I’m a man with desires of my own. And Kit? He’s still the most compelling man I’ve ever known. Stern, gorgeous, untouchable… and the one person I can’t seem to let go.
Every stolen glance and slip of the tongue drags us closer to the line we swore we’d never cross. But once we do? There’s no turning back.
Magpie is a scorching 39k word age-gap, father’s-best-friend MM romance filled with slow-burn tension, forbidden desire, and the kind of devotion that sets the world on fire.

Magpie is a short, sweet, slightly angsty novella about Robbie, who we first met in Grounding Griffin. It’s a father’s-best-friend romance with plenty of longing, stolen glances, and years of unresolved feelings before everything finally comes to a head.
Because it’s a novella, I flew through it in one sitting. I do wish we’d gotten to spend a little more time with Robbie and Kit throughout the years instead of jumping between them, because I think that would’ve made the emotional payoff hit even harder.
That said, I still had a great time. The tension was delicious, the chemistry was there from the very beginning, and when things finally turned steamy… whew. It was absolutely worth the wait.
Overall, this was sweet, romantic, and ridiculously easy to binge. If you’re looking for a quick, low-angst read with a satisfying slow burn, this one is definitely worth picking up.
Sweet magpie
