Ally Hastings is my obsession, the one girl I never should have fallen in love with.

She ran away from me for a year, filled with shame, insisting our feelings for each other are wrong and we can’t give into temptation. No more sneaking around. No more stolen kisses.

Now Ally is back in town, ignoring our past, trying to date other guys and move on from me. I thought I could hate her for the way she ripped my heart out but I’m more obsessed with her than ever. I don’t care how wrong we are for each other, Ally Hastings is mine, I’ll make her see it, and I won’t let anyone take her from me.

My Favorite Sin is a “his dad married her mom” new adult romance. It is book 2 in the Playing Favorites series and can be listened to as a standalone novel. For a more immersive experience it is recommended to first listen to the novella My Favorite Girl.

After the cliffhanger My Favorite Girl left me on, I was anxious to get my hands on My Favorite Sin and see what was in store for Dan & Ally. Let me just say, it exceeded my expectations!

This might be one of my favorite step sibling romances. Despite its taboo nature, there is something so sweet and pure about Dan & Ally’s love for each other. I ate up all of the innocent touches and sneaking around plus the “lessons” left me blushing! This seriously had everything I wanted in it and then some! Ally’s character growth was amazing, she went from shy and compliant, to ready to do whatever it took to be with Dan, their parents be damned. Plus the ending was perfect! I will miss Dan & Ally, but I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other Blackwood brothers.

The narration was to die for! My Favorite Sin is narrated in duet by Heather Firth and Anthony Palmini. Honestly I am surprised my headphones didn’t melt because this audiobook was HOT! Once again Heather just does such an amazing job capturing Ally’s innocence and soft spoken voice. She also portrayed Ally’s character growth flawlessly. Anthony, whoa! The way he brought Dan’s dominant side to life was amazing. Dan was confident and charismatic but he had it bad for Ally, Anthony portrayed all of those emotions so well! Heather and Anthony took this already amazing story and only elevated it with their incredible performances.

This book is basically sinning in the best possible ways, and Dan & Ally? We love them. We support them. We enable them.
The tension is deliciously wrong, the chemistry is feral, and every scene feels like a terrible decision you make anyway because it feels too good not to. Forbidden, tempting, and absolutely unapologetic. 😈🥵
Come for the sin. Stay for Dan & Ally owning your soul.

🩷Their story is giving DIVINE spice, forbidden vibes, possessiveness, second chance vibes, spicy lessons, and so much swoon that made my heart ache and sore!

The duet style narration was incredible and both of the narrators performance were amazing!

One thing that really stuck out to me about this audiobook was how the female narrator, Heather Firth, sounded exactly like I felt Ally sounded like. She got the vibes right. That’s not usually something I would comment on, since I’m usually meeting the characters for the first time, but in this case I had already read an ARC copy over a year ago. I feel like I know this character well at this point, and the narrator really pulls it off.

I did feel like the male narrator, Anthony Palmini, was a bit stiff (lol) with his performance. Felt more like he was reading from a script sometimes rather than actually portraying a character. A couple of the spicy scenes felt slightly cringey, but that may be more the words he was working with.

As far as the story goes, I love how supportive Dan is of Ally. He loves her and lifts her up, and pushes her to be her best, most happy self. It’s so sweet and I love that for her. She’s such an anxious little mouse who needs someone to really see her; to believe in her. They’re perfect for each other.

Some stories don’t just cross the line—they live in the tension right before it. My Favorite Sin is one of those rare taboo romances that leans fully into yearning, restraint, and emotional consequence, and somehow makes the wait even more intoxicating.

Written by Skyla Summers, this is book two in the Playing Favorites series, and it builds seamlessly on the emotional groundwork laid in My Favorite Girl. The story already had its hooks in me before it began, so I went in expecting angst, longing, and heartbreak—and it absolutely delivered. The emotional stakes feel heavier here, the desire sharper, and the fallout more inevitable, which made every interaction feel charged and meaningful.

What truly elevates this experience, though, is the duet narration by Heather Firth and Anthony Palmini. Palmini’s performance is pure tension—his whispers alone could unravel anyone—while Firth perfectly captures that fragile balance between sweetness, anxiety, and loyalty. Her portrayal of a young woman caught between family and forbidden desire felt painfully real. Together, their chemistry is undeniable, and they embody the longing, frustration, passion, and emotional aftermath with stunning precision.
