Quick Rundown:
When Ailsa drinks the magic elixir and finds out she is the first Omega to exist in centuries, she is taken to Monsterland with her three Alpha mates. One of them being Krolic, also known as the Silver King, who is the true king of the Monsterland Kingdom. The Crimson King, an impostor king, has stolen the throne during Krolic’s absence while finding an Omega mate. The impostor tries everything he can to steal her away from Krolic because whoever places an heir within her first will rule the kingdom. The story follows the adventure they have in convincing Ailsa she is in fact an Omega who will be the Queen of Monsterland, dodging minions sent by the impostor Crimson King, and teaching Ailsa all the things they want to do to her body so she feels loved, worshipped, and the “everything” they have been searching centuries for.

Monsterland Mayhem by Lexi C. Foss is one of 8 books in the Fairy Tales with a Monstrous Twist Collaboration series. They are all standalones by different authors. The POV changes by chapter between all the main characters. Tropes include reverse harem/why choose, fairy-tale retelling, breeding, touch her and die, Alpha/Beta/Omega, virgin FMC who has never even had a kiss, knotting, group “scenes,” and many more. She provides a complete list at the start of the book.

FMC:
Ailsa Marvel of the Hatter District is a human servant living in the employ of Baroness Clarice who purchased her from the Farmington household when she was age twelve. She has no one and sees herself as a nobody, only as someone people notice when she delivers their linen or a meal. She has always been fascinated by the elixir ceremony. When Master Pillar arrived as Master of Ceremony, her fascination shifted immediately to him. She sometimes even interacts with him in her dreams. She also has made a connection and friendship with her very large pet wolf whom she calls Beast. He finds her and seems to protect her and leads her around exploring the forest. When she drinks the elixir and begins to glow, she is in complete disbelief and insists there is absolutely no way she is an Omega. She insists this is all a big mistake, but her mates already know better. Master Pillar is actually Catum and Beast is actually Krolic, two of her three mates, who have been near to her for the past 2 years. They knew what would happen when she drank the elixir and had plans in place to bring her to Monsterland, to protect her, to claim her, and to breed her to take back control of their kingdom.

MMC:
Krolic, or King Krolic, is the rightful King of Monsterland. Also known as The Silver King, he has been out with his alpha circle for centuries searching for their Omega mate. He is the wolf shifter who befriended Ailsa and is whom she calls Beast. His best friends are also his second in command and his enforcer. Even though they make up the alphas of a mate circle, the men are just best friends without any attraction or desire for each other. When they are together, it is all to please their Omega.

MMC:
Catum Pillar is also an alpha in the King’s mate circle, one of the best friends of the king, and is his second in command. He is known to Ailsa as Master Pillar and Master of Ceremony and has been staying close and watching “Miss Marvel,” as he calls her, for the past two years. He can dreamwalk and has been starring in Ailsa’s very vivid dreams many times since she met him.

MMC:
Craze de Hatte, nicknamed The Mad Hatter, is hands down THE most fun character in this book! I love everything about him! The audio narrator of Craze does an absolutely phenomenal job with this character! He comes up with so many nicknames for Ailsa, such as “Little Rabbit,” “Gorgeous,” and “Pet.” Also an alpha in the king’s mate circle, he is also one of the king’s best friends, and is the king’s Enforcer. He uses a special deck of cards as his favorite weapon, throwing them precisely to slice into whatever or whomever he is aiming at.

STORYLINE/PLOT:
Monsterland Mayhem is a standalone Alice in Wonderland fairytale retelling Romantasy. It is set in the human world and the magical world of Monsterland, where everything is chaos, magic and wonder.
When aged 21, in a special ceremony, all females of all species must drink an elixir that will tell everyone whether she is an Omega. After hundreds of years with not one Omega, it is a wonder whether Omegas are now extinct. However, when Alisa drinks the elixir and begins to glow it means she is one! After this, everything for her truly turns to chaos!
The Monsterland Kingdom is ruled by a pretender king who took the throne while the actual king, King Krolic, was out searching for an Omega mate. It was the pretender’s edict who made the law for every female to drink the elixir to cheat the system instead of actually searching for his mate like is customary.
Krolic, Catum and Craze make up an Alpha mate circle who found Ailsa 2 years before she was supposed to drink the elixir and knew she would be their Omega mate. Krolic and Catum found a way to stay near to her for those 2 years while getting to know her and awaiting her 21st birthday. Monsterland thinks Catum and Craze are dead, so they disguise themselves to keep their secret as they act out their plan to assist Krolic to reclaim the kingdom and throne.
The heir is what is necessary to cement the ruler of Monsterland in the throne. Whomever can produce their heir first will rule the kingdom. With Ailsa being the first Omega known to exist in centuries, King Krolic and his alpha circle plan to be the ones that breed her and create the heir.
The story is full of fun places, magical foods and scary monsters, like the Hot Chocolate Fields with dangerous fudge bombs, mushrooms that taste like tomato soup and grilled cheese, and the Tweedle Brothers. Some people are not who we think they are and the reader is thrown some serious twists and turns! The ending has a wonderful happily ever after!

A Twisted Fairy Tale I Never Knew I Needed

Okay… I did not expect to love this as much as I did! 😍
Fairy tale retellings usually aren’t my go-to reads, but Monsterland Mayhem completely flipped the script—in the BEST way. Twisted, clever, dark, and addictive!

The story? Phenomenal. The world-building? Immersive. The combo of narrators in the audiobook? ✨ Chef’s kiss! ✨ They brought the chaos, charm, and mayhem to life perfectly.

I think I’ve officially found my new favorite Lexi Foss book (sorry, Blood Alliance series—you’re almost dethroned 😅).
If you love paranormal worlds, morally gray monsters, and fairy tales with a wicked twist… GET THIS BOOK. You won’t regret it.

This audio was fantastic! The narrators did such a wonderful job bringing these characters to life, especially Kale Williams as Craze revealing his many personalities.

This was just so different from Lexi’s typical writing and I just loved it! It was so fun yet maddening all at the same time!!

This Alice in Wonderland retell was full of twists, turns, slides, portals, and Mad Hatter madness!!! This was a bit of a slow burn that turned deliciously spicy once we finally arrived at the point of no return.

I do hope that Lexi will continue to put out stories that fall outside of her typical storylines as they tend to be the best.

This was such a fun listen - check it out, you won’t be sorry!

Great Audio Adaptation to a Great Story

This is an OV twist on Alice in Wonderland. Alsa lives in a world where everyone is tested at 21 to see if they are an omega. When it's Alsa's turn, she finds out she's one. The next thing she knows, she's being chased into a world unlike anything she's ever seen.
I'm pretty sure this was the first book I read from this author and absolutely loved it. I devoured the audio book just as quickly. This was the first audiobook I listened to where there were separate voice actors for everyone in the RH, which I thunk really helped. I've found that the voices can be a hit or miss, and I loved all of them in this one.
I highly recommend.

A well told adult Alice in Wonderland fairytale that will leave you panting. Fated mates, RH, PNR and smexy. Loved every word.

Absolute Mayhem

Such a great story and narration. Every single narrator did an amazing job and Kale Williams as the "mad hatter" was absolute perfection. Lexi took such a unique spin on this retelling and I devoured it.

Favorite Alice version!

I’ve never been a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland but this version won me over! I loved the tweaks to the different characters we know, the new characters introduced in the story, and the steamy scenes were just what we needed.
It is definitely a quick, fun, and steamy read. I would highly recommend giving it a go

Fantastic on Audio! 🎧
This was definitely my favorite Alice in Wonderland reimagining! It has all the madness, swirling portals, magical world, political warfare & fun characteristics of our favorite characters from Alice in Wonderland. With the added bonus of an omegaverse, with Alphas, Omegas, Betas, knotting & purring, as different species of monsters. Ailsa is a human, living in a different world/dimension, serving a terrible family of magical beings. She is overlooked often & seen as a lowly human. That is, until she is revealed as an Omega & is meant to be sent to the Silver King of Monsterland. Except Monsterland is currently serving under a false king, while the real king & his mat circle have been looking for their mate. Alisa has been dropped into a world of feral monsters that haven’t seen an Omega for hundreds of years. Alisa doesn’t understand what is happening, she’s only a human, how can she be an Omega? Not only that, but she is set to become Queen of Monsterland. Now the question is, will she fulfill the false king’s mate circle, or trust the males/monsters that have been protection her for longer than she realizes, and become the rightful Queen with the rightful rulers of the realm?

Spicy!!

First off the duet style narration was amazing! Their voices work so well together.
This story was quite a kinky spicy tale. I loved how the story twisted “Wonderland.” The story doesn’t jump right in to the spice. The MMC’s slowly introduce the FMC to her new world as an Omega. BUT the MMC’s were knot your typical sweet and dreamy types. Definitely touch her die with a side of mad hatter. Knot going to lie I wished it was longer because I wanted to read more. I highly recommend!

Good job to the author- such a good book. Good job to the narrators for bringing these characters to life. And it is hot in here. ;)
