Makes you realize how far we are from a Christian Nation. And getting further and further away.

Jesus is love, not hate!

This book is transformative. It takes politics out of Christianity. It focuses on what Jesus did and said. And challenges us to do the same. John shows us that the love of Jesus and hate cannot coexist. Even though some Christian zealots profess to love Christ, they relish and rejoice in the suffering of others. I strive daily to love my Father God and others in everything that I do. John gives me hope that we can change, we just have to want to!

Nobody does it better than John

John spells it out why so many Christians are not following the words of Christ and how you can help them by using the actual words of Jesus; chapter and verse.

A reality check

This book really calls me to reflect on the soundness of my own belief in Jesus and my own behavior and actions and thoughts relative to his teachings. I found myself laughing, I found myself shedding a tear occasionally, and at other times looking at myself and realizing I had work to do. This book has really made me think hard about who I am and what I believe in and the reality of what's going on in the political world in the United States right now that is deeper than I even realized. This book might be a hard pill to swallow for some, I know it was a little tough for me in some spots. I highly recommend it.

Humanity over religiousity

This was a a profoundly impactful book. Fugelsang has not reversed my atheism/agnosticism but I cannot reject his version of “christ followers” (as distinguished from “Christian’s”. I was led to consult the copy of Thomas Jefferson’s bible (just the accounts of Christ’s words) that I had downloaded from Apple.

I’ve read many books about the failings of the Christian religion and I’ve also witnessed it attending an SBC church. This book gracefully generates potential conversations without blaming or shaming. Thank You.
